Scary Stuff...

Seeing Stretch Saturday reminded me of this story he sent along. While I may disagree with pretty much everything the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue does, this still scares the heck out of me...

Breach Prompts Review of White House Security
The director of the Secret Service ordered an internal review of its security procedures around the White House after a man armed with a knife who jumped the fence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday night managed to make his way through the front door of President Obama’s home before being stopped, officials said Saturday.

Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, of Copperas Cove, Tex., jumped the black iron fence that surrounds the White House around 7:20 p.m. on Friday and ran straight to the North Portico door, the grand entrance that is flanked by white marble columns and faces Pennsylvania Avenue. He made it through the unlocked doors and was tackled immediately, said Ed Donovan, a Secret Service spokesman. Mr. Gonzalez was carrying a folding knife with a 3 ½-inch serrated blade, according to a criminal complaint filed in Federal District Court.
Made his way INTO THE DAMN WHITE HOUSE. Again, I don't care what your thoughts are on President Obama, this should frighten the living hell out of anyone with half-a brain (obviously Vice President Biden slept well after hearing the news...). Someone was able to scale the fence around the grounds, run across the White House lawn, and actually gain entrance to the building that is home to the President of the United States before he was stopped.

I find it hard to believe, bordering on impossible, that this wouldn't have been pretty much the textbook case for "shoot on sight." We've had people run up to the White House before, but all previous attempts had been stopped pretty much at the gate itself or on the lawn. I would hope that someone getting that close to the building itself would earn a .308-caliber hole or two, but either it was Mr. Gonzalez's lucky day, or someone is about to get fired.

Unless there's some odd rules of engagement that are unlike, well, pretty much any other for a secure building guarded by marksmen, we can only theorize why the interloper was not ventilated. In my mind, it's either that the guard(s) were asleep or otherwise occupied (any Colombian hookers in town?) or else they thought it was funny and let him pass. Neither is a comforting thought.

The words "President Joe Biden" ought to make you break out in a cold sweat...

That is all.

he was an illegal alien. of course they let him in...

Actually he was a decorated Iraq war veteran.

Kinda changes the tone.

I hope they get the guy help. But he shouldn't have been able to gain access to the house.

Third option: The Secret Service just doesn't give a damn.

....... Or maybe after they shotup the last woman that tried the drive in gate the first line of palace guards is no longer issued live rounds.
All the trusted agents were in the back as POTUS boarded his marine 1 for yet another fund raiser

Well, really, we know they let anyone in there.

Any drunk could just claim he was Biden and be escorted in.

The real question is why was the door unlocked... NOT policy... And yes PSTD, and another one the VA missed.

On a Related Note: "Did You Know" that the Marine Guards at the White House are NOT necessarily "Combat Marines?" It is my understanding that they have changed the Rules in this Admin so as to get Marine Guards who "Look Pretty," (and are "Politically Correct") to staff the White House. In fact, I understand that one can now become a Marine Guard STRAIGHT OUT OF BOOT CAMP!

The Few. The Proud. The Doormen.

Y'all just don't unnerstan.
This is the new kind'er and gentle'er administration. This administration has evolved and loves & cares for all of its citizens. We don't lock our doors, we don't turn away immigrants looking for a new life (and voting dimocrat).
WHAT?!?!?! HE'S a VETERAN! Send his useless sorry ass back to the VA so he can be forgotten and buried under a mountain of paperwork. And by the way ask the IRS to do an audit on him too.
We have WAYS to deal with his kind of people.

Yes, they could have shot him, or they could have loosed the hounds on him (they do patrol the WH grounds with trained attack dogs), or they could have locked the door (their was an agent stationed there who could have done it as soon as he was alerted), or could have all converged on him, tackling him and beating the piss out of him - BUT THEY DID NONE OF THAT. While it may have had something to do with them not giving a damn I do not think it had anything to do with not giving a damn about America. I think the Secret Service Agents do give a damn about our country but maybe just not a damn for or about Obama in any way shape or form. That has to have him wondering just that and he will wonder for the rest of his life because he will have SS protection for that long. That last sentence gave me a good laugh at his expense.

If all I am carrying is a 3.5" serrated blade pocket knife, then I do NOT consider myself ARMED.

... and neither does the PR wing of the Democrat party, hence the low key reporting. If he had been carrying a GUN, on the other hand...

Curious you should say that, Sendarius.

This morning the press is absolutely appoplectic over 800 rounds of ammo in his car. (No guns. An alledged sniper rifle was taken from him earlier in the month.)

The more I read about what he had, the more it sounds like he was a NWO conspiracist (with more than a touch of PTSD). Again, I hope this hero (and he is a decorated Marine) gets the help he needs.

It's a good thing this was just a veteran (probably) with PTSD.

Because I bet right now ISIS is kicking themselves over the missed opportunity to get an explosive vest inside the doors of the White House.

Jay:

In all honesty, I'm not terribly worried about the prospect of a Joe Biden presidency. (Don't misunderstand me, I wish President Obama only the best of health. Well, it would be nice if he'd take a vow of silence until 2017. A guy can dream.)

Why would President Biden not worry me? Heck, the Secret Service would have its hands full reminding him where the door to the bathroom is.

In re a crazy getting all the way to the White House before being stopped -- I agree completely, Jay. If the White House does not have snipers on permanent duty, it should.

You know what worries me about a Biden presidency? Him getting it due to a terrorist act that succeeded due to a lack of effective security.

The last truly major terrorist act brought us the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, the TSA, and so on. The Boston bombing brought martial law and widespread police abuses that were all greeted with cheering. What laws would a successful terrorist assassination of "our first black president, a Nobel Peace Prize winner", let the big government types (from both parties) get through Congress and on to Joe Biden's desk to be signed?

That's what scares me.

What's the saying? A fish rots from the head down? The head is a rotten, stinking pile of pus. That's going to affect everything around it.

If possession of a pocketknife renders him armed and dangerous, then beware the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts among us.

If hopping a fence places someone in a free-fire zone, then I want the freedom to do the same for anyone that hops over my fence. That would be fair, right?

Without a gun, those 800 rounds of ammo are as dangerous as a bag of marbles. Don't drop them on your foot.
