Kilted To Kick Cancer, Day 16

So, yesterday your intrepid kilted host was out running errands. What do you do when you get back from running errands on a weekend?

Why, you check the mail, of course! One thing I'm finding about Northern Virginia is that it's awfully hard to surprise folks here. There are so many different cultures all mashing together that an Italian guy in a kilt doesn't even register. I've had a couple folks wave, a couple tilted heads, but for the most part, folks barely bat an eye.

It's a little disappointing, to be honest. When folks take notice, it gives me a chance to spread the word. While we're doing this to raise money for prostate cancer research, so that someday we might have a cure, more immediately we're trying to raise awareness. Get kilted. Get checked. We want men to go to their doctor and get examined, because that's how things get caught earlier, when they are more treatable.

If we can get more men getting checked more regularly, that's a huge win.

And speaking of winning... Remember, if you donate to KTKC on behalf of Team JayG, you get a shot at winning a York Arms lower and a parts kit with which to finish it. Everyone that donates gets a chance to win it. Every $5 is one chance (i.e. if you donate $25 you get 5 chances). As I've done in years past, I'll assign everyone numbers based on their chances and run a random number generator to determine a winner. Everyone who donates and e-mails me gets a shot.

To donate:
  • Click an amount, or add in a custom amount, then check the box next to "This donation is made as part of a Fundraising Team".
  • You'll see "Fundraising Team:" and a drop-down box. Pull up "Team JayG".
It's just that simple!

Only two kilted weeks left to catch up to the big boys!

That is all.
