Kilted Pic, Day 27

I'm still clinging to my razor-thin lead, but that's not why I'm posting an update and a pic on a Saturday. We are SO CLOSE to hitting $10K in the Kilted to Kick Cancer fundraiser that I want to pull out all the stops even over the weekend. In that vein, here's another pic from dinner last Saturday:

That's SCI-FI mooning the crowd (he's camera-shy). Stretch and Marty, my kilted brethren, are looking on bemusedly as the moment is saved. Again, I was having a difficult time trying to figure out what to freak out more over: wearing a kilt or open-carrying.

It worked, though: at some point in the night, a gentleman walked over and (very politely) asked what the deal was on the kilts. I explained about KTKC, and he was very receptive (and promised to get checked), and I considered it a major win all around.

Now, as we enter the last few days of the fundraiser, time is running out for donations. We're close to what we raised last year; it would be fantastic to exceed last year's take, but we'll take what we can get. Every bit helps.

if you decide to donate on behalf of Team JayG, you will be put into a drawing where you could win:

If this appeals to you, *and* you want to support a great cause, *AND* you want some of that sweet, sweet, tax-deductible goodness, here's what you need to do:
  • Click an amount, or add in a custom amount, then check the box next to "This donation is made as part of a Fundraising Team".
  • You'll see "Fundraising Team:" and a drop-down box. Pull up "Team JayG".
Also, if you've donated and haven't sent me an e-mail, please do - I need to know who's in and how many chances to allocate ($5 = one chance). E-mail at the stuckinmassachusetts - at - comcast dot net address and let me know! I know how much I've raised and I know how much I have allocated in the raffle, and the two aren't even close. If you haven't sent an e-mail, time is running out...

Three days to go - let's keep going full speed!
That is all.

Follow up, apparently I am the no good, yellow bellied blue falcon that withdrew their donation. Little did I know. I checked PayPal and they reversed my donation for some reason. I am going to track down the malfunction and fix it. I will send an update when possible.

PayPal truly sucks. I was very surprised to see that there was no other option, like direct credit card payments, for donations to KTKC.

Credit card merchant accounts are a pain in the ####, and they're not really worth messing with for an event that lasts one month a year. You can hire card processing services to do it for you but they skim off a percentage in addition to the credit card company's cut.

Sigh... Paypal IS a PITA. And let's hope we break $10K!!!
