Friday Car Pr0n #41

After spotting the super sweet '57 Chevy earlier this week, I knew what today's car was going to be. Obviously I wasn't going to duplicate the '57 Bel Air, but here's something close:

1955 Chevrolet Nomad.

You know who designed that car, right? That's right. The man, the myth, the legend in his own time, Harley Earl. The man was to automotive design and styling what John Moses Browning was to firearms. I don't think he had a bad design.

When you think about it, the idea's kind of silly. The whole point of a station wagon is to have room for the whole family *and* all their stuff - having only two doors makes it much harder for the kids to get in and out (I haven't had a two-door vehicle since my son was an infant).

But damn, I want one of these so bad I can taste it...

That is all.

The Nomad is on my 'like to have' list as well. With a matching teardrop trailer for camping.

The picture is of a 1956 Nomad, not a 1955. The '55, '56, and '57 Nomads were all unique and beautiful.

Every time I see a Nomad, I think of "Home Improvement". Laughter and sorrow caught in one moment. Priceless

And Yes that is a 56 not a 55.
