We'll Get Blamed for *This*, Too...

21 people shot in NYC over the weekend
A wave of violence swept New York City over the weekend as 21 people were shot, four of them fatally, authorities said Monday.

The shootings, which included the separate woundings of 10- and 12-year-old boys, made for the third weekend in June that at least a dozen people were shot, police said. In the last week of June, 35 people were shot, down from 39 gunshot victims the same week a year ago, according to New York Police Department statistics. A breakdown between those killed and those wounded was not immediately available.
Curse those lax gun laws in NYC! When will the evil Republicans that run NYC realize that allowing complete and unfettered access to high capacity machine gun bullet clips with no background checks is a bad idea? They're probably getting these ghost guns at the many gun shows that litter the NYC landscape.

The sad part, of course, is that there really are people that think like this. New York, with the SAFE Act, draconian gun permit system, "assault weapon" ban, and other controls, still wrestles with crime, some of which committed with firearms. If gun control worked, NYC would be one of the safest places around. Since it doesn't - because criminals don't obey the laws - we see an uptick in crime that is swept under the rug as a "temporary increase" in shootings.

You almost have to wonder, don't you? Given the complete and utter failure of all gun control measures no matter where they're implemented, why do they keep pushing it? Sure, some of the true believers might think that it only hasn't worked because we haven't done enough, but they can't all be that deluded. At some point you have to conclude that there's more reason than just "if it saves one life" behind this misguided push. Not to mention that, in NY, CT, and now MA, they have to lie and hide the vote from public view in order to get it passed.

What's that tell you about how popular gun control really is?

That is all.

Y'all should link up the Sullivan Act page on Wikipedia. NY has had a law on the books since *1911* that made unlicensed carry a felony; not to mention "the possession or carrying of weapons such as brass knuckles, sandbags, blackjacks, bludgeons or bombs was a felony, as was possessing or carrying a dagger, "dangerous knife" or razor "with intent to use the same unlawfully"."

Oh, and: "Statistics showed that after the act passed that gun murders in New York City had risen 18 percent."

Since "cause-effect" seems to escape the Liberal mind let's promote the following:

The irony(?) is the uptick correlates with the "stop and frisk" repeal. Nothing else has changed for NYC except the SAFE act making NYS law tighter and NJ across the river getting tighter as well.

If the problem was general "legal access to guns" then stopping the rights-abusing "stop and frisk" policy should have had no effect.

Since stopping "stop and frisk", which did catch up legitimate bad actors along with the innocent, had a hard to contradict causal effect on crime rates our argument, that it is individual criminals who are the problem, not legal gun ownership and carry, is buttressed.

That isn't to say "stop and frisk" is good or right policy but obviously strict gun control isn't either.

Uh, the Evil Republicans were booted out last November.

This is the NEW, Loving-Kindness, Unicorn Riding NYPD in Charge of Community Relations Policing that the Uber-Liberal Mayor DeBlasio has in place.

Expect more of the same.

I bet New York has a law against deliberately flying an airplane into a building, too.

This happened at an NRA rally and the new opening of the New York Center for Gun Safety, and the inaugural class of Gun Safety for Kids. (NOT NOT NOT)
