What The What?

Husband, Wife Killed After Colliding in Head-On Crash
A North Texas husband and wife have died when their vehicles collided head-on near where both work.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened around midmorning Wednesday 3 miles west of Odell, about 60 miles northwest of Wichita Falls.

How does that happen? Were they playing chicken? Suicide pact? Really, REALLY unlucky? I'm trying to figure out the odds of hitting your spouse head on in the middle of the morning. I'm really hoping there's more to this than just cosmic coincidence.

Because otherwise, I am forced to think this is at play:

Hey, it's Friday, had to go with the Far Side...

That is all.

My guess would be murder-suicide.

The odds against this being accident or coincidence are just too astronomical to consider.

The article I read had a bit more info. Apparently it's a rural "very narrow, blacktop county road and there are no markings. There are no shoulder markings and there are no center stripe markings." and it happened right after a curve and the crest of a hill. It appears on or both of them were probably driving over the imaginary center line and possibly speeding. Perhaps swinging a bit wide coming out of the turn. Most likely just a horrible coincidence.

Here's another one with even more info. Apparently both worked at the same farm, and both were using their vehicles to travel between different parts of the farm. Police think the wife drifted into her husband's lane as he was cresting the hill. Neither one was wearing seatbelts.

Sadly possible. When I was working long hours on the docks, I came home as Sam was leaving, and passed her on our little two lane road. More than once, in those days, I was so exhausted that I found myself drifting off on that three mile home stretch.
