I Hear Dumb People...

Joseph in IL sent this one in. I don't know whether this young man should be awarded points for honesty or sterilized for the good of humanity...

'Are you smoking pot?'; 'Why yes, I am, officer'
Massachusetts police say a Springfield man blew through a stop sign and also blew a cloud of marijuana smoke when he was pulled over.

An officer enforcing seat belt laws as part of the annual "Click It or Ticket" campaign saw a vehicle drive through a stop sign Tuesday evening. When the driver stopped and rolled down the window, police say, the officer was "covered in a plume of smoke."
Now, I'll give the guy credit for one thing. He didn't pull the "I just had a couple beers, officer" bulls**t that so many fall victim to attempting. Cops aren't dumb. They know that if you only had two beers, they must have had been the gallon jug variety for you to be swerving all over the road. Rather than give the officer a stupid lie that would have failed instantly, he owned up. I'll give him that.

But the sheer stupidity of smoking pot while driving. I mean, really. It's pretty obvious *something* is going on, and if you do something stupid - like roll through a stop sign in front of a cop - it's so easy to nail you. I suspect that the officer was in a marked vehicle, if it was part of a targeted campaign to get people to wear their seatbelt.

Then again, no one ever said stoners had a lot of common sense.

That is all.

Yep, lack of common sense, and attention to detail... Little things like stop signs don't matter...

Pot makes you stupid.

I quit 32 years ago when I saw the the difference between beer and pot on myself.

When drunk... I knew I was being stupid. When stoned...I thought that I was fine.....

About 15 years ago the nephew of a close friend of mine was driving at over 100 mph on I-93 somewhere in New Hampshire.

He had a blacked out Mercedes with a 1,000 watt stereo in it.

He was smoking a joint.

He got pulled over by a NH State Trooper.

The kid rolled down his window, blew a puff of smoke at the trooper and said, "What?"

What turned out to be a huge fine and loss of license for seven years. Since then he's apparently smartened up and become a productive person. Still he'll always have that display of stupidity on his record.
