Open Thread: Whatdja Get?

So, for those who remembered, today is National Buy A Gun Day. The idea is that, to celebrate finishing our taxes for the year, we go out and spend some of that money on a new heater. Stimulate the economy, get more arms in private hands, that sort of thing. For me, well, I've got two guns on order. Neither are in yet, despite one having been ordered nearly a month ago.

Neither are on the MA Approved Firearms Roster. One, in fact, is from a company that has not even submitted to be on the list. One is a "high capacity" handgun, the other is not. Since they're not here, but ordered, I'll open the thread with one:

Glock 19. Not mine, but, well, Glock.

Yeah, I went for the easy one, the Glock 19. A hair more concealable than the 17, can take the same magazines (although, really, for 2 rounds not that big of a deal), and is about as ubiquitous as they come. Lots of aftermarket parts, lots of accessories, and, honestly, no hard feelings if--G-d forbid--I ever have to use it and it winds up in an evidence locker somewhere.

So, what did you get today?

That is all.

A minty gen-3 Glock 17 to go with the Gen-2 and the 26.

I've been patient and getting batches of magazines through Lucky Gunner and a few at the local gun store over the years. I'm taking a pause in my 30-year quest to see if one can have too many SIGs, and Glocks are indeed a fine firearm, too. Since there doesn't seem to be a reason to not own one or more they are a good candidate to BAG day.

I've noticed that through several different iterations of the SIG 220, 226, and 229 (never mind a stable full of 250s - yes, I've got lots of SIGs) with some holsters - especially kydex - one does not fit another quite so well or at all, while a certain 226 holster seem sto fit everything SIG ever made. With the various generations of Glocks, that doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

I ordered my BAG Day gun 2 months ago, because I was told there was a 2 month wait to get one.
Serbu BFG-50 bolt action .50bmg.
Actually I ordered it at the time because it was my 50th birthday so 50 caliber of course! Just worked out that it was supposed to come in on BAG Day. Good thing I did order it back then, because after spending over $1500 in vehicle repairs in the last week or so, and paying out $2000+ in #@!% taxes, if I was buying a gun today it would probably be a Jennings.

I'm still waiting on a Glock 41 to join my 21 and 30. The owner of my local merchant of death has promised me the first one that comes through the door. Of course, after writing multiple 4 figure checks this tax season, the gun budget is somewhat strained, so the other planned purchase (AR in .458 SOCOM) is going to have to wait a bit.

I had money coming back so I filed early, and spent most of it on guns so I guess that counts as BAG Day acquisitions. I got a Puma M92 lever gun in .45 Colt (a Winchester 1892 clone by Chiappa), a Ruger Vaquero also in .45 Colt, and a Stoeger coach gun, 12 gauge. (Can you see a pattern here?)

Also, today's teh deadline to register assault weapons in New York. It'll be fun to see how that works out.

Lacking much rational reason but strongly based in irrational reasons, I went for a MG34. This is a 1943 example, live, and hungry. Really a mechanical marvel with about a zillion moving parts.

Getting an Upper for my Nephew's AR that he's NOT "Allowed" to have in the Kalifornia VolksRepublik. Funny thing is, since he's in the Navy as an EOD Tech, he's "Allowed" access to Mass Quantities of Materials designed to generate "Earth Shattering KaBooms," yet God-Forbid he has a Poodle Shooter. As for me, I'm waiting until Indy before I do any purchasing. Got to see if the new Buicks are in early this year.

But a friend of mine just came back from Knob Creek with a large purchase of Commie Surplus Shooters, and he's giving me a "Good Deal" once it clears the BATFE, so.... ; )

Since I'm pretty much done with gun purchases (yes I know that is heresy) I went to gun school instead.

A straight-pull K-31 in 7.5 x 55 Swiss.

The bolt, with all those guide channels, is a work of art.

Well, I got it a bit early, and the rifle itself I actually got last year but the optic for the rifle took so long to sort out, I finally got to shoot it just a little while ago. Coincidentally, I got to take it to the range the day after we filed our taxes.

Dunno if this counts, but I have a holster, belt & mag pouches for my SIG P232 on order from Simply Rugged, and then once I get my refund, I'll be ordering a set of Trijicon HD night sights for my P228.

I am out almost 5K to the feds for my 2013 taxes, I think there will be no new guns coming my way for awhile.

All the best,

BAG purchases are going to wait until Indy - I'm hoping to come across some AR furniture that my York Arms lower can't live without. ;-)

6" Security-Six .357 that's almost as old as I am.

Saw nothing I really wanted, though a Marlin Glenfield Model 60 "assault rifle" almost followed me home. Settled for a bandoleer of M2 ball in en-blocs. Should be non-corrosive according to the headstamp and lot number. Combined with the EOTech and sling to finish last years purchase, I'll begrudgingly be satisfied.

BAG will have to wait. The thieves in DC want me to send them another monthly payment for some undeserving leech.

well if we count family purchases, my wife got a Glock 42. I got a root canal :/

Still haven't made it to a Fun Show to outfit the York Arms lower that I won last year. But I did buy $100 of 5.56x45 to feed it, or feed the MSAR (Steyr AUG-clone)

I think Wally won the thread... :P

Finally took the leap for an AR-15. Was hoping to pick it up last year but between unexpected expenses and the fact that prices went into LEO it got put off. Now just waiting to pick up the lowwer

I bought an eeeeevil vz-58 with 4 (supposedly pre-ban) 30 round mags from some poor bastard who lives in NY and couldn't keep it.

Odd, but it hasn't made me shoot up any schools or military bases yet. I suspect it's defective.

Buy-a-gun-day for occurred in early February when I had a rough idea how big my tax refund would be (said refund arrived in early March).

A Springfield Range Officer 1911 and several boxes of .45 ACP magically followed me home from the gun show that day.

Heh. Bet you do. Really wish York had been accepting new orders when I ordered. They make 'em purdy
