A California senator is seeking to audit the state's ObamaCare exchange after a Watchdog.org story revealed that $1.37 million was spent on a campaign featuring an eight-hour web stream starring a gyrating Richard Simmons.Over $1.3 million to make a single YouTube video. Wonder how many people they managed to get to sign up as a result of that. Considering that Covered California is $78 million on the red, it had better have gotten everyone in California to sign up and then pay a couple bucks...
The Jan. 16 event -- now immortalized on YouTube -- showed celebrity fitness trainer Simmons writhing on the ground to an MC's chant of "Get Covered, hashtag, uh-huh," a reference to Covered California, the state exchange. At one point, he snuggles up to a contortionist following a dance-off.
Much like "green" energy, this is turning out to be a colossal waste of tax dollars. We're seeing stories like this all over - obscene amounts of money spent on campaigns of dubious merit with little to no return on investment. You know, like they were paying people off with the exchange funds or something.
I wonder what a thorough audit and money trail would reveal about this?
