Friday Afternoon Wayback...

Let's go back to 1983. Remember then? Some of you might not. This was a huge hit then:

Allegedly written about Marilyn Monroe, "Photograph" was Def Leppard's first big hit, rockin' the days of pastel T-shirts and white linen suits. This song caused me to do some quick mental arithmetic: It came out in 1983, some 18 years before my son was born. That's akin to songs that came out in 1953 for me, two years before Bill Haley and his Comets performed "Rock Around the Clock."

Yeah, I feel old now...

That is all.

That's the same as me listening to "It Must Be Jelly 'Cause Jam Don't Shake Like That." (1942, if you must know.)

What's a lot of fun is singing along to a "new" song on the radio. It really annoys the kids. "Dad, you know that song?" "Not really, but they ripped most of it off of Breakfast in America."

I recall my father enjoying a song on his FM radio he had installed in his '65? GMC tow truck, when I pointed out that it was an instrumental version of a hit Beatles song. Stunned, he was. Late 60's.
