Whirlwind...

Sorry about the lack of posts the past week or so. SHOT Show is always a crazy time; between the three hour time difference, the Vegas atmosphere, and the "OOH SHINY ADHD" effect, I was pretty much out straight from 5:30 AM Monday morning until I got back Friday afternoon. It's a great time - I connected with many old friends, made new ones, and met folks face-to-face that I've only known as a screen name. Plus, all the new stuff...

One of the things I picked up last year was that there wasn't any new stuff; between the bruising 2012 election and the subsequent mini-rush caused by the re-election of anti-gun Barack Obama and then the tragedy at the end of 2013, the firearms industry as a whole was so busy just trying to manufacture their existing inventory there wasn't enough time to come up with much new stuff. This year, fortunately, that wasn't the case (see the day job for some of the awesome stuff we covered last week).

And, of course, I touched down Friday afternoon, was met at the airport by my family, and immediate drove 9 hours north to spend the long weekend with our families. We signed papers on Freedom House on December 23rd and spent Christmas down here, and this past weekend was the first time we could get back up north to see our families. Two days jam-packed with seeing kith and kin - in the middle of a snowstorm, of course - and it was 8 hours in the car to drive back home.

Now, though, things are settling down. The house is close to unpacked. The kids are settling into their routines at school. The Mrs. is chasing down leads on gainful employment. Work will be settling back down to a dull roar after the biggest single event of the year. Things should be getting on a more even keel over the next few weeks (and I should be getting my new personalized VA plates and my CHP sometime soon, too...) so that I can get back to normal. Or at least what passes for normal...

TL/DR: Life's crazy, what else is new?

That is all.
