Back to the '80s...

So, at last night's New Media Meetup, the Bourbon Room at the Venetian was playing '80s hits. Hair metal '80s hits. In amongst the various forgettable pseudo hard rock were some decent songs, like "Highway to Hell" and, well, okay, that was it. It did get me to thinking about some good '80s tunes, like this:

I think one of the saddest moments of my life was hearing this song used in a TV ad for Burger King...

That is all.

Quick true Judas-Priest-related story: Years ago at UMICH, my roomie is in the AFROTC program and he and the other cadet officers are losing their minds getting everything squared away for a big national inspection. They're checking all the (paper-only at the time) files and memos and such for anything out of the ordinary. They found paper on a joke cadet someone had created named "Stan Poo" and one night my roomie brings me a piece of paper and says to me "just read it all".

Starts out as a pretty boring and standard meeting minutes of Flight blah, Cadet Squadron blah blah, but about halfway in I notice some odd lines, then slowly, through the last half, the minutes transform from real meeting minutes into the lyrics to "Air Force Gods", which was just "Metal Gods" with "Air Force" in place of "metal". It was one of the subtlest and funniest things I've ever read to this day. Dragging iron feet, indeed.

Also used to sell minivans. True story.

I had a jean jacket with the "Screaming For Vengeance" patch across the whole back.
