Blogmeet!

So, I talked to OldNFO a few days ago, and coordinated schedules... Between his grueling work schedule and my commitment for SHOT, getting together in the early part of January really isn't going to happen. What can happen, though, is a meet-up in early February. Right now we're thinking February 1st for a mid-winter blog dinner get-together.

So who's in? I know there's a good deal of folks in the Northern Virginia/Southern Maryland area. We're giving y'all well over a month to get things together and make it out for a dinner. Let's figure out a time and a place and get together on Saturday, February 1st somewhere in the general northern Virginia area. Dinner, libations, and perhaps even some other miscellaneous shenanigans (up north, we've been known to play pool at our winter blogmeets!).

So, who's got ideas on establishments we can terrorize patronize? I'm still learning my way around the NoVA area, so I'm more than happy to defer to the better judgement of others. Let's get some locations - both geographic and establishment-wise -and then start spreading the word!

NoVA Blogmeet Saturday, February 1st - who's in?

That is all.

Y'all? Seriously?

Man, its a wicked pissah that you're not barely even moved down there in and you're already speaking the lingo. You go, Jay!

I'd like to see what happens when you try to order a crullah, though.

I'm in. As for locations, there's Mad Fox Brewing Co in Falls Church, or Hill Country Marketplace in DC (yeah, I know, it's DC, but it's the only place to get good brisket in the entire region).

Maybe try out the National Harbor? There's a ton of food places there. Though it's on the "wrong" side of the Potomac...

Wanderer,

National Harbor can be nice, but, as you point out, it lies in enemy territory. That is, citizens cannot carry firearms there. Old Town, on the other hand, has a number of excellent places. O'Connell's or Bilbo's come to mind. The upstairs at Il Porto (live piano entertainment} is another. In Fairfax, there is the Auld Shebeen (a smoke-free pub), just to mention a few. Don't get me wrong, if the group decides to meet in Marylandistan or the Centrum of Evil (IYKWIMAITTYD), I'll certainly attend, but I respectfully suggest we would be more comfortable gathering in a liberated zone, especially since Jay G so recently escaped the Occupation.

I would prefer something in NoVA, particularly one with no posted signs.

Just sayin'.

Suggestions for ron-dez-voo.
Hard Times Chili Parlor, Fairfax City, VA. They have billiards.
Bungalow Billiards and Brew Company, Chantilly, VA
O'Sullivan's Pub, Herndon, VA
Second NB's choices of O'Connell's, Bilbo's, or Il Porto in Alexandria, VA

Yeah, yeah, beat up on the guy who stands NO chance of CC. Live in Maryland, work in DC, on a military base.
So nobody likes my offering of the Harbor. Fine.
:-p

I'll happily meet this bunch of reprobates wherever you like. Don't blame y'all for not wanting to travel to the east side of the Potomac. Wish I could move west...
