The First Gun...

"What's the first gun you're going to get when you move out of MA?" That's a question that has come up quite a few times, both from folks outside of MA as well as the envious folks I'm leaving behind the Red Curtain.

MA has both an "Assault Weapons" ban and an "Approved Firearms Roster", so our choices are limited for both long arms and handguns. I'll be able to buy any semi-automatic rifle I want regardless of whether it has a collapsible stock or a flash hider rather than a muzzle brake*. For handguns, there's a whole new world of firearms available to me. No longer am I limited to S&W, Ruger, SIG, and a smattering of other handguns.

As for rifles, well, I'm having York Arms build me an AR-15 carbine with all the evil trimmings. Heck, I might even look into that Law Tactical adapter that allows you to fold the stock on your AR just because it's more eviler! Bayonet lug, flash suppressor, yeah, it's going to have all that - and I might even have the barrel threaded for a suppressor! I might spring for a tactical .22LR rifle now that I can have > 10 round magazines and folding stocks and such.

Handguns, well, that's tougher. Funds are rather limited given the relocation efforts and such, and while I'd certainly love "one of everything", I'll most likely keep it to a dull roar in the near future. Heck, I've got time. I'm getting out - and even if we were to come back, you bet your behind I'll be looking into Southern NH rather than MA...

Some contenders are the Rossi Ranch Hand in .357 Magnum/.38 Special:

Or perhaps the North American Arms Sidewinder:

If I stumble into some money, the Uberti Schofield is a DEFINITE contender:

Then again, I could get anything I wanted from Glock without paying ridiculously inflated prices. Or an M&P full size 9mm with a standard capacity magazine. I can look at the offerings from Kimber, Springfield, or even Diamondback now without cursing the name of Scott Harshbarger. There's a whole new world available to me.

I just hope I don't go broke before I try them all!

That is all.

*DERP. Thanks anon.

It's a muzzle brake fer crimeny's sake. If you have a muzzle break take it to a gunsmith.

I am still haunting gunshops in VT for, in no particular order (since my own FFL is on indefinite hold due to Fannie Mae (or maybe Chase) being STUPID about not letting me purchase the house they're busy foreclosing on):

NAA Earl

Keltec PMR-30

Colt / Browning 1905 or 1908

Why, yes... I'm looking for some mouse guns. Why do you ask?
