Fort Bend teen kills intruder
The teenage son of a Houston police officer shot and killed an intruder Friday at the family's home in Fort Bend County, officials said. There is only one thing that I see wrong with this entire story. No, not that he called his dad rather than 911 - that's completely understandable. No, not that he went to George Bush High School (although I'm sure the media will blame the death on Bush...) No, my issue is with this:
The teen was on the telephone with his father, Houston Police Department officer Ken Patmon, when he opened fire at one of two people who had forced their way into the home, officials said.
"He's never used a firearm - ever," the officer said. "He maintained his poise and did extremely well under the circumstances."He's 18 years old, going into the armed forces, and you've never taken him to the range? I fired my first gun when I was *eight* for crying out loud, and that was in Massachusetts for pete's sake! Now, I could understand it if he had never shot that handgun before or even a handgun before, but to never have fired a gun? I can only hope that the father is saying that to further reduce the likelihood that his son will be charged with anything.
Then again, this is Texas here - they might charge him for missing the other goblin...
Dead Goblin Count: 445
That is all.
