Busy Jay Is Busy...

Hoo Boy. We've been packing like mad the past couple days, and it is exactly this process that has been the main sticking point with GTFO of Massachusetts - packing 14+ years of accumulated crap is a major process. It's slow going, as we do not want to move stuff that we don't use, so we've been speed-filtering using the time-honored process of asking "Have we used this in the past, oh, decade or so?" and throwing it away if the answer is "no".

I've also been performing random acts of home improvement, fixing 12 years of having children around the house, that sort of thing. I guess it's a good sign that the repairs we need are so small that no contractor or handyman wants to take on the job - mainly replacing a couple doors (hollow-core is crap, yo) and random tightening of hinges, re-alignment of doors (note to parents: Don't ever get a pre-teen boy a basketball hoop that goes over the back of a door. Just don't.) At some point we're going to have to get a price quote on painting the interior - at least the hallways and bathrooms.

Moving is a crazy amount of work...

In a few days there will be an official announcement about where I'm going - while the process of cleaning and clearing the house is a drag, I am very excited about the new gig. It's worth the hassle 10 times over, certainly. Not to mention, well, that I believe I have mentioned the GTFO of Massachusetts part, right? I'd be lying if I said the McAuliffe campaign wasn't worrying me about my impending move, but I have more faith in VA doing the right thing than I do MA. Especially with stories like these kicking around... No one wants to take your guns away - unless you live in Massachusetts.

I'll be sad to leave my town and my friends behind, but not the Volksrepublik...

That is all.

The Internet helps soften the blow of leaving friends behind a bit.

As for the work involved, well, freedom isn't free.

Can we guess at what the new gig is? My guess is working for the NRA.

This post makes me happy. End of year Carolina blogshoot with Sean, Old NFO, and ASM826?

And yeah.

You will need a dumpster equalling one cubic yard for each year you have lived in the house. My friend had a 30 yard dumpster delivered prior to moving and I laughed at the extravagance until we filled it to overflowing. He had been there 30 years.

Oh yes, what Borepatch suggested.
