Say Again?

#1 Blogdaughter has been sending in quite a bit of fodder while I'm on vacation. Like this head-scratching story...

Father of teen charged in Florida school bus beating says son is 'sorry'
The father of one of three Florida teens charged in a vicious school bus attack said his son is “sorry” for taking part in the July beating that made national headlines.

As the trio headed to court on Tuesday, Julian McKnight said his son Julian, 15, has also suffered in the aftermath of the July 9 attack on a Pinellas County school bus after it left Lealman Intermediate School in the St. Petersburg-area community of Gulfport.
Now, you have to read to the bottom of the article to find out that the three attackers were black and the one (younger) victim was white. Probably explains why there is no *other* coverage of this story anywhere else, either. I wonder when Hollywood stars will start making PSAs for the 13 year old beaten unconscious by three older thugs? Don't worry; I won't hold my breath.

Here's the kicker, though:
“All I can say is that he had his consequences already, you know?” McKnight said. “This is life. I am sorry what happened to the victim. It's just the way it is. My son ain’t never been no bad person, he just got mixed [up] with bad people, that’s all … He’s sorry.”
He's had his consequences already? Really? This is life? Excuse the living fuck out of me, but if three older boys jumped my son because he dared tell the school resources officer that they tried to sell him marijuana, the goddamn court system would be the very fucking least of their problems. Your kid is selling marijuana to fucking 13 year olds and committing assault and battery. He most fucking *IS* a bad person.

Naturally, I expect the three to walk and be personally apologized to by the mainstream media. The 13 year old will have to go into hiding and change his name. Imagine the fury if three older white boys had put a younger black kid in the hospital and then gotten slaps on the wrist over this. Tell me how racist we are when we look the other way when the victim is white.

As long as there is money to be made on racial strife, it will never end.

That is all.

As long as it's going the 'other' way there's money to be made; this way, not so much!

It gets much worse. The local police were contemplating charging the bus driver because he did not "physically intervene" to stop the attack. Can you imagine the what the press would have done had the bus driver "physically intervened"? What sane thinking man in his 60's would wade unarmed into a trio of violent 15 year old males in the middle of an attack? The bus driver quit instead of dealing with that again.

How many retired (I am adjusting for age) Sheriff's Deputies or police officers in their 60's would wade into that trio while unarmed?

Oh yeah and it gets better. Today we find out the Dept of Juvenile Justice has recommended 9 months "court supervised probation" for the 2 fifteen year old aspiring thugs. Hopefully the judge ignores them but we'll see.
