We're So Badass, We Bomb Our ALLIES...

Oopsie...

US drops unarmed bombs on Great Barrier Reef
CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — Two American fighter jets dropped four unarmed bombs into Australia's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park last week when a training exercise went wrong, the U.S. Navy said, angering environmentalists.

The two AV-8B Harrier jets launched from aircraft carrier USS Bonhomme Richard each jettisoned an inert practice bomb and an unarmed laser-guided explosive bomb into the World Heritage-listed marine park off the coast of Queensland state on Tuesday, the U.S. 7th Fleet said in a statement Saturday.

Take that, you stupid reef! That's what you get for taking Nemo away from his dad!

Now, this was an emergency situation and the pilots did eject the bombs away from the reef itself. They're unarmed bombs for practice, so it shouldn't be too difficult to retrieve them if that's possible (~ one ton each, I have no idea how feasible retrieval may or may not be). Maybe some enterprising Aussie can make a small fortune on scrap?

The enviro-prattle is predictable and tedious. One isolated incident and they're condemning the use of the area for military exercises as well as the commitment of the United States to environmental concerns. Lady, we gave you Al Gore; what more do you want? The range that was supposed to be used was improperly cleared, and the jets couldn't land with the practice munitions still in place. The greenies would prefer that we kill innocent folks on the ground or our pilots rather than drop inert bombs in the bay in a last-ditch maneuver.

Good to see your enviro-nazis have the same (lack of) concern for human life as ours, Australia...

That is all.

Cheaper than bombing the reef with Harriers, just sayin...

I gave them the co-ordinates of the local Green Party HQ, but they said that the resulting release of hot air and bull shit would do more
damage than hitting the reef.

I guess I have to agree.

What are the odds that the reason they couldn't drop the practice bombs was a gaggle of protesters clogging the bomb range? They can't win here- option a) drop inert bombs near protesters= zomg tying to kill dissenters! Option b) dump bombs at earliest safe location= zomg destroying the reef! Option c) try to haul bombs back to carrier, run out if fuel, ditch Harriers in ocean= zomg irresponibley polluting international waters! Just sayin', I wouldn't be surprised if the same yahoos that are mad about four tailfinned steel weights just off (as in NOT ON) the reef are the ones standing on the practice range, fouling the target and causing the jettison.

Closed Roosevelt Roads Naval Station when the range at Vieques was closed for live fire training. Put a bunch of people out of work, course that didn't get in the way of folks like Sharpton, Jesse and Olmos from being jerks about it.

Hell, the Ausies have gone full retard with their stupid gun laws so to hell with 'em.

Hey, remember what happened with the first air wing that couldn't do proper pre-deployment training because Vieques was closed.

They ended up dropping ordnance on a blue-on-blue when they got to the Sandbox. . .
