Cincinnati poll worker sentenced to 5 years for voter fraud in presidential elections
She boasted that she voted twice in last November's presidential election. She was charged with repeatedly voting illegally over three elections using the names of others, including her sister who has been in a coma for a decade.
Now 58-year-old Melowese Richardson, a veteran Cincinnati poll worker, will be spending the next five years in prison for voter fraud. The truly amazing thing is that this ever went to trial. I think they kinda got painted in a corner - when you go on television and brag about violating the law, it forces the court's hand a bit, I think. It's one thing to assume that your sister would want to vote for a candidate and to take steps to accomplish that aim; it's another entirely to imperially decree that you can do this because you are a poll worker and who's going to stop you?
Remember this story the next time a hit piece like this airs, where Republicans are accused of wanting to keep the elderly and minorities from voting. Whenever voter fraud is brought up as a reason for wanting something as simple as photo ID - not necessarily a driver's license like the author of the Forbes hit piece intimates - the liberals scoff and claim that voter fraud simply doesn't happen.
Well, yes, it does happen. We now have a documented case of someone in a position of power not only committing voter fraud, but bragging about it - how common is it if she felt empowered to discuss it over the airways? It's also quite unlikely that this is the only story of its kind out there - this is Cincinnati, not Chicago after all - and that we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg.
The reason we know it only happens for Democrats and not Republicans? If Republicans were committing voter fraud this story would have been front page news for weeks...
That is all.
