If You Can't Say Something Nice...

Longtime journalist Helen Thomas dead at 92
(CNN) -- Longtime White House journalist Helen Thomas has died at age 92 after a long illness, sources told CNN Saturday.

Thomas covered 10 presidents over nearly half a century, and became a legend in the industry.

She was a fixture at White House news conferences -- sitting front and center late in her career -- where she frequently exasperated government spokesmen with her pointed questions.

She was a fixture at White House news conferences -- sitting front and center late in her career -- where she frequently exasperated Republican government spokesmen with her pointed questions.

Fixed it for you.

They are quick to point out her attack on Robert Gibbs as evidence of her "bipartisan" attacks - yet strangely, this is the only incident of her taking a Democratic official to task they can point out in over 20 years. She might have pestered Bill Clinton from time to time, but calling George W. Bush the "worst President ever"?

Rest in Peace, Helen. You'll be able to harangue Richard Nixon to your heart's content now...

That is all.

This is a sad day indeed. As well as being immensely talented at her chosen profession, Helen was a rare beauty. A recently published photo of her in a two piece bathing suit showed off a figure that women 1/3 her age would be envious of.

I don't think I'll ever... wait, Helen Thomas? I thought you said Helen Mirren.

Thank God.

I was taught that Good Manners dictate that if you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all.

So my response to the passing of Helen Thomas is this: ...................

You're assuming that Nixon and Thomas ended up in the same place.

The Good Lord has a habit of forgiving all sinners....so, perhaps she will get the chance to speak with Pres. Nixon, again.
