Thank Goodness For the SAFE Act!

If it wasn't for Cuomo and Bloomberg's courage in pushing the SAFE Act on New York, think of how much worse this story could have been:

8 shot at Brooklyn party; 1 in critical condition
NEW YORK (AP) — Police say four women and four men have been shot at a party in Brooklyn, including one woman taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Authorities say shots rang out at a party at a residence at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday. They say the woman and seven other people who sustained non-life-threatening injuries have been transported to three different hospitals.
See? Limiting magazines to seven rounds works! The shooter was only able to gun down eight people (7 in the magazine and one round loaded) before he ran out of ammunition and gave up. Gun control works, people! The proof is right there in New York City, where they hand out licenses to carry like water, have legalized shooting people over "disrespection", and only the SAFE Act keeps New Yorkers from shooting more than eight people at one time.

Seriously, can we finally start getting rid of the idea that gun control has anything to do with stopping, slowing, or even making the tiniest bit of difference in crime? New York - especially New York City - has some of the most draconian gun laws in the country. And yet someone didn't think twice about opening fire at a party, hitting eight people in a targeted act of violence. Again, what gun control would have stopped this?

You go right ahead and ban trans fats and large sodas, Mayor Bloomberg - obviously NYC has no other problems for you to address.

That is all.

I am shocked. Truly shocked. What took you so long to post this? To quote Slim Pickens from Blazing Saddles ... " Well I am DEEE-pressed. "

And do please chech your email ... I sent you a couple good things.

I love the line that Michael Bane stole from a liberal gun owner: "Stopping gun violence by limiting magazine capacity is like stopping lung cancer by banning big cigarette cases".

Unfortunately, to Bloomberg, someone who tried to fight obesity by banning big soda cups, that line makes perfect sense...

Limiting pistol magazines to only seven rounds only works to reduce the number of those shot if the shooter does not know how to replace an empty magazine with a full one, or if that pistol has no spares. For example, those who regularly carry a .45 ACP 1911 pistol would have no problem with a seven round magazine capacity restriction, would probably carry at least one or two spare magazines, and would know how to replace magazines.

We need to get rid of the "assault weapons" that are predominantly owned by white, middle-aged guys, that account for well less than 1% of murders.

Meanwhile, we should completely ignore the FACT that over 45% of ALL murders in the USA are perpetrated by young black men, against other young black men.

Because calling out a crisis among our African American population devolving from systemic poverty, marginalization and lack of opportunity is less politically "sexy."

This isn't about crime, nor is about murder. It's about control of the citizenry.
