Just Like England!

MPD Hiding Most Crimes From Public
Last week, we reported on the violent assault on the Metropolitan Branch Trail, in which a mob of 15 persons attacked a bicyclist without provocation, beating him so severely that his eye was swollen shut. Over the next two days, we also noticed this crime went unmentioned in MPD’s public crime reports and online crime map, and wondered why. After all, MPD stated the attack was an aggravated assault (a Part 1 offense by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting standard), and the daily crime reports assure citizens that such reports contain “Part 1 serious” offenses.
See? Violent crime is going down! There's no need to carry a firearm for self-protection, you cousin-humping bitter clinger. Just because we're picking and choosing the crimes we elect to tell you about means nothing. Ignore the statistician behind the curtain. The Great and Powerful Lanier has spoken!

Hmmm. Where else have we heard about crimes going unreported? That's right, in the gun-free paradise of [formerly] Great Britain. You see how simple it is? Want to make your area look safer? Just don't report a bunch of violent crimes! See, they never happened! War is peace, serf.

It's a lot like Bloomberg's group using the name of the Boston bombing suspect shot dead in a gun battle with police as a "victim of gun violence". Want to make your case look stronger? Throw in a bunch of barely related items! In only the most technical senses was Tsarnaev a "victim of gun violence" - he was actively attempting to kill police officers, and was shot to death in the process. In no gun control scheme ever proposed have the police been slated to use their firearms, so we can presume that "gun deaths" will continue forever according to these nitwits.

I believe it was Twain who said "There are three kinds of lies. Lies, damn lies, and statistics". I think we can safely add a fourth: Gun control advocates.

That is all.

I wonder if the decline in violent crime since ~1994 is due to an increasing refusal to record and report the crimes, rather than an actual reduction.

Though he said many wise things that wasn't Mark Twain. It was British PM Benjamin Disraeli who described the three types of lies.

Mark Twain attributed the quote to Disreali:,_damned_lies,_and_statistics

I am inclined to agree with Borepatch on this one.

It seems following a wave of crime in Idaho, the local media will always have a follow-up story in a few days saying crime rates are dropping.

One local police department following a stabbing, or shooting will say "There is no evidence of gang activity." The local media then ran a story about the wonderful tax dollars spent to improve the radio system ($55-million) one feature that was repeatedly highlighted was the police communication was now encrypted for privacy. When the reporter asked about this the response was "So gang members cannot monitor us."

When the Native Americans said the white man speak with forked tongue, I am almost certain they meant the politicians and now the gun control advocates.
