It's That Time Again!

It's early June. Early August is only two months away. That means it's time for... [drum roll, please]

The SIXTH Annual Northeast Bloggershoot!

Yes, this is now the sixth time we will all have gathered at the sooper seekrit range to fling lead, enjoy each other's company, and chew the fat. Every year, this is the one event that I really look forward to more than anything - a gathering of the tribe to shoot guns, jawbone about the current state of the state, and reconnect with our friends. Always a good time...

As we've done in the past, the standard format:

What? Sixth Annual Northeast Bloggershoot

Who? Any and all bloggers, commenters, readers, lurkers, etc. in the Northeast area, or those passing through, or anyone crazy enough to show up.

When? Saturday, August 3rd. July is just too close, and the remainder of August is booked up for me.

Where? Why, Doubletrouble's sooper seekrit range, of course!

Why? Shootin' stuff is fun? Trying out new hardware is fun? Getting together with a couple dozen of your tribe, combined with guns and reactive targets, is a recipe for a good time?

And, the standard caveat:

As with every year, this is a "pack-in, pack-out" shoot - if you want to bring a life-size replica of the Eiffel Tower to shoot the hell out of, go right ahead. Just be prepared to drag the bullet-riddled carcass out with you. We can call the sub shop for lunch, but someone should step up to take care of the lunch order so Mrs. Doubletrouble doesn't have to deal with that again...

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

That is all.

Jay,

Saturday? That's different from past years. No problem for me, especially w/ nearly two months notice. Kinda nice in that it also allows for all day Sunday for thorough cleaning of the arms.

Count me in for two. I'll be bringing the Marlin 60, the Ruger 22/45, and the Mosin M44 carbine. I'm of course happy to share any of these with anyone who wants to try them.

I know you'll be asking at some point, but if any of your attendees has a Walther P-38 pistol, any variant, I'd love to try it out. I can supply my own brass 9mm ammo. I also have a decent supply of brass-cased 7.62x39 fodder, so I'd like to revisit the AK/SKS world if anyone is bringing such hardware.

Enough of that . . . . and here's a hint. Mrs. Doubletrouble likes DARK chocolate. I'll be bringing her a selection of fine dark chocolate goodies as a "thank you for hosting."

I can feel my shoulder aching already !!! ;->

I'll let the Wife know I'm going.

And yes, the 6.5 Swede is coming.

Let's see - can I transport long arms across the People's Republic of Massachusetts? Althought I'd hate to have to leave the wheelgun home.

Brad,

Yes, Saturday. We had historically run the shoot on Sundays because Paul at SLA could attend. Since SLA has been open on Sundays in recent years, there has been less incentive to push the shoot to Sunday.

Les,

Looking forward to popping my 6.5mm cherry!

WAIT...

Dave,

FOPA should cover you as long as everything is unloaded/locked/inaccessible/etc. MA isn't as bad as NY/NJ on transport.

Jay, please count myself and A in please!

I figure we'll have more discussion on who can offer what , or who'd like to try what.

Brad, I remeber I owe you a turn on the PSL (was it? or the AK54?) Just remind me and I'll make it happen!

A, are you gonna have HB1 ready for the shoot ? :D

Dave, I used to pick up Zercool by taking the Southern NY Route along the Penn. border, then head north along 87 until we reached the road that cut across Vermont/N.H. Which avoided the Mass Turnpike entirely.

But this year, to limit my exposure to the Cuomo Virus, I'm looking at taking I-80 across Pennsylvania, then running up to I-87 where Penn/NJ/NY meet, then cutting across.

YMMV, of course.

Thanks for coordinating Jay! Looking forward to some drooling/shooting and general hilarity to be had by all. Have to get hopping on some things between now and then (yes, that would be a nod to HB1, Wally)!

Andie,

If Jay's work in chemical sales ever falls to hell, he can always get work as either a professional party planner or as Julie, your cruise director.

On a personal note, when Jay highlighted my Mosin M44, you seemed to express an interest in giving it a whirl. I'll bring plenty of ammo. You can shoot it as much as your shoulder can tolerate.

As for HB1, if you are allowed to share privately, feel free to email my the details. My addy is bradr65 (at) gmail (dot) com.

Brad,

This is so very true, but I don't know that he could pull off the cute little skirt ensemble the same way he does a kilt! ;)

Oh, I would LOVE the opportunity to shoot the Mosin M44, you are a gem to share!

I'll be in touch re: HB1, thanks!

Count me and Cheryl in, at least at this stage of the game. If we get real lucky I may not be living too far from DT by then.

Mopar said...

BTW, while Saturday is probably generally better, in that it gives you Sunday to unwind and clean the guns, it might make it a little tougher for a preshoot dinner for those coming great distances.

WOOT!

Bräuista said...

Mopar - will I be living there too??

Jay G said...

Mopar,

It does, however, allow for a post-shoot dinner for those that can't make it Friday evening...

Jay, you dun goofed on the dates- I'm actually scheduled to be home- first time ever! (Praying no one dies/retires at work like last time, causing me to miss it).

I'll be there. And with new toys this year!

YAAAAY!

Which is my way of saying, I'll be there. This works out very well as we're leaving for vacation the next week and I wouldn't be able to go if it were later in the month.

Lord, you tempt me so.
How Northeast is Northeast? How many hours to drive from where the Kid Shoot was? That's a good estimate.
And if it's that long of a drive, probably not the Zombie Response Vehicle.
Well, maybe... I could be coerced.
I can bring the MSAR again, and I got another toy this week I'm itching to try...

Jay G said...

I made it from the Kid Shoot location to my house (which is further away than *this* sooper seekrit location) in 9 hours.

Zombie Response Vehicle would be EXCELLENT for making the trek down the driveway to the range... :)

I'm gonna try to make it this year, the timing works out much better.

new shooters who probably don't have much in common welcome?
I'm considering it...

Absolutely! Give me a holler - I have directions if you decide to go.
