Friday Gun Pr0n #324

Goin' old school courtesy of my red-headed blog stepchild Michael W. (Not to be confused with Mike W. Who was also at the NoVA shoot).

Sharps percussion rifle, military version. .54 caliber (it can shoot down airplanes! ZOMG!). Somewhere in my box 'o' goodies I brought home from the shoot is a .54 bullet. The projectile itself is larger than a .40 S&W cartridge. It's easy to see how these things brought down buffalo. I suspect they may have had the buffalo fire the rifle and let it knock them over.

The picture doesn't even come close to doing it justice - this is a simply beautiful rifle. #1 Blogdaughter was kind enough to provide some cloth (linen/cotton jacquard, she tells me) for a backdrop, and it really brings out the beauty in that wood. Michael has some really nice hardware, so naturally I couldn't resist getting pictures.

Thanks for sharing her with us!

That is all.

Does the bullet have the knob on back for tying the cartridge paper to?
