Friday Gun Pr0n #321

Today's gun is another one of the fine firearms I got to coonfinger handle at the NRA convention earlier this month:

This is the Wraithe 1911 from MG Arms, a custom-built Commander-sized 1911 available in G-d's Own Pistol caliber (as well as 9mm). It's chock-full of custom touches, like a match grade barrel, bobtailed frame, and 3½ pound trigger. MSRP is listed at $2,595, which given the parts list that goes into this pistol (Trijicon night sights, Caspian frame, Wilson Combat magazines, VZ grips, etc.) isn't all that extravagant in the realm of custom 1911s.

Sadly, because it's a handgun - and not on the "Approved Firearms Roster" {spit} I won't get a chance to try this one out at the range any time soon. I imagine that it will perform about as well as the K-Yote that I took hunting last year, and it makes me sad that my capricious state laws prevent me from trying one out. Then again, those same laws prevent me from getting a case of the wants so bad I start selling everything that isn't nailed down to afford one, so...

You know, I haven't bought a 1911 in a long time, now that I think of it...

That is all.

There is no finer pistol than a 1911. I absolutely love both my Kimber and my Dan Wesson Guardian, even if I did stray off the reservation and get the Guardian in 9mm... I need to rectify that and get another one in .45 now. They make for comfortable carry weapons too. Well, the DW anyway. The Kimber is full sized and I only play with it at the range.

I just went and had a look at that silly little approved firearms list. Why the need to get so specific and not just say "1911"? Though I know enough not to expect gun laws to make any sense at all, that list just seems absurd.
