Friday Gun Pr0n #318

Today's gun picture comes from friend, fellow biker, blogshoot regular, and all-around good egg Cher from Stuff by Cher and Brauista:

Boy, howdy, that is one purty shottie... Let's get a close-up of the hammers, shall we?

Man, that is nothing short of stunning... I'll let Cher tell you about her:
I got my birthday present today! It was late but worth the wait! A gorgeous Pedersoli 10 gauge black powder side by side waterfowl shotgun. It is in amazing condition and the wood is beautiful Note the scrollwork and egraving on the metal and the checkered wood. Also note the nickel plated hammers and browned barrels. The bores are shiny and like new. Chris did a great job! He knows me so well! I couldn't have asked for a nicer present. ♥
I mean, if you're going to go the full Biden, you might as well do it in style, right?  Now, I'll admit that black powder isn't exactly my thing - I'd prefer something that took modern 12 gauge ammunition that you can find pretty much anywhere - but that is a strikingly pretty shotgun. I'm hoping it'll make the trek north for the next bloggershoot so I can get some up-close pictures - and maybe, just maybe, Cher will let me shoot it...

In any case, gaze upon the vision and be jealous...

That is all.

I have plenty of other shotguns - modern ones - Saiga 12, Mossburg 500, Remington 1187, Browning Single, Berretta Over Under - all in 12 Gauge. So, a blackpowder was the next logical step. Now I need a modern side by side. Keep 'em comin', baby!

There are still a few good reasons to own some black powder guns. A major one is commonality of components. There are 100 different types of modern smokeless powders and for the most part they don't interchange. Use the wrong one and you blow up your gun. Real black powder is black powder is black powder. There are a few differences in grain size, but you can still safely use the fine pistol powder in your rifle or shotgun if you like. You can (if you choose well) have your rifle, shotgun, and handgun all use the same primer.

Jay,
When I saw the two hammers and SxS barrels, my first thought was "Joe Biden Special." I have to get out more. Yeesh.

That's a beautiful piece of machinery there. "There's no school like old school."

Cher, PLEASE bring it to the next N.E. Blogshoot! We don't have to fire it, and I'll bring extra Towels to wipe off the Droll, but PLEASE BRING IT!

That's "Drool," not Droll.

Oh and trust me, if for some reason she DIDN'T like it (yeah, right!), I would have kept if for myself in a heartbeat.
