Shut The F**K Up.

I'm done. I've heard enough talking heads make s**t up and pull stuff out of their nether regions to last me the rest of my natural born life. The speculation has been rampant, the media has learned absolutely nothing from their abysmal coverage of, well, every tragedy since the recorded history of man, and they have gotten just about every single possible thing wrong about this attack that they could have. If I didn't live here, I would question whether it really happened in Boston, that's how bad the coverage has been,

I'm sick and tired of hearing every pompous blow-dry and bubbleheaded ex-cheerleader stare vacantly at the camera and talk about how the bombs may have been filled with nails. You know what? I don't care what they were filled with. Someone or a group of someones deliberately set multiple bombs (how many? We have no idea! We know two went off simultaneously; there may have been a third that went off later - or it may have been a small fire; there may have been 2-5 others discovered or none! See my comment about getting everything wrong). This wasn't a happy fun friendly act; this was a cold, deliberate act of evil. Doing something else evil doesn't change it from being evil. We don't need to have some sort of twisted "evil scale" where mass murders get rated, okay?

My little sister was in Boston helping out in the marathon. She missed the bombs going off by minutes. It is only by a happy accident that she wasn't directly at ground zero on this; and from the looks of things, it's only that she decided to head home when she did that spared her from being right in the thick of things. That's good, because it's bad enough hearing the morons pontificate about what we need to do, about what freedoms we need to give up, about what sacrifices we need to make in order to "feel" safe without having skin in the game.

We can't stop acts like these. I think that's the hardest pill to swallow. Even in Soviet Russia, with the KGB eavesdropping every where and the penalty for something like this would be the execution of your entire family they couldn't stop acts of terrorism. The devices needed for something like this are trivially easy to make or procure, and the likelihood of getting caught remote. What we can do - and we've failed miserably at it so far - is not collectively lose our s**t and run around like decapitated chickens.

Sometimes I'd like a gag order on the entire human race.

That is all.

You are right.

We could greatly reduce these acts if we removed the source of *Most* of them from our country.

It'd help if we admitted the truth. Then we could deal with it.

But we won't.

Seems to be the trend with the "media". When the investigation isn't going fast enough for the lynch mob.... I mean 24 hour news cycle... find anyone who will talk to you. No matter how wild eyed. And take his word as gospel.

I'd rather have support for the people injured and condolences for the killed as well as finding out who really did this and doing something........ unpleasant and 8th amendment violating..... to them.

Very well said, Jay.

I wish they wouldn't report on speculation.

But as Breda said, to an extent it is all horror porn.

The nitwits on TV are just that. They had no idea what they were seeing and no idea what was going on.

About 30 minutes after the detonation, they had run out of anything remotely factual. So, to fill the time, they just made shit up.

The problem with that is a lot of people believe the fantasy that these people actually know something.

I had to turn the TV off and go for a long bicycle ride to clear my head. Too many friends working there for me to put up with that carp.

I swear, the news media abuse of the First Amendment causes more deaths than any abuse of the Second Amendment.

Very well said Jay. It makes my blood boil to listen to all their bullsh!t!

December 9, 1992 is the day I first despised the media and they just get more despicable

Well said, and agreed... But you and I both know they WILL use this to come after more freedoms!

I've been peripherally involved with cases ranging from simple trespass to treason. In every case various media outlets told outright lies. A radio station aired a false story at Noon and called press office at 1205 "for clarifications" in the hopes of getting details. A major Washingtion paper padded a story with two paragraphs of fabrications.

In an unrelated event I witnessed a traffic accident on I-95. A local station aired the story and got location, traffic direction and vehicles involved wrong.

The media can not be trusted due to bias, incompetence or a combination of both.

Very well said. I just wish news organizations would learn if there is nothing new to report then shut up.

Glad to hear your sister is safe as well as your family.

Well said, Jay!

I just wish the news media had an appreciation of the panic caused by their empty-headed blabbing, and of the DEATHS attributable to their sensationalizing (and rationalizing!) of murderers.

Somehow, the only legitimate limitation anyone can think of, vis-a-vis the First Amendment, is "don't shout fire in a crowded theater". How about "don't encourage the next mass murderer by glorifying the last one"?
