Because, you know, that a person was killed is far less important than what they were killed with.
The irony will no doubt escape them; they're far too busy bleating "guns are bad, knives are okay" to notice that they are, once again, fixating on the tools used rather than the rationale behind the violence. In the first case, it was unchecked mental illness - and other than shadowy allusions to allowing unchecked fishing expeditions into a potential gun owner's medical history (in defiance of the government's own HIPAA regulations, but hey, who cares when it's a gun owner) - there have been no proposals on how we help the mentally ill get help. In the second instance, it's standard issue urban violence, an issue that will never be resolved until we as a nation are willing to address the real problem without fear of being called racists.
But in the meantime, we'll just demonize all firearms and gun owners without the slightest hint of irony, right?
That is all.
