I'd Rather Be Lucky Than Good...

So, Friday night, I swung into my local Wallyworld and was shocked - shocked - to see something on the shelves that I hadn't seen in a long time:

BULK. .22LR. IN. STOCK.

Wonders will never cease. They're still enforcing a three box limit, and wouldn't make any exceptions (hey, I'm in sales. I had to ask). There were even a few boxes of .45 ACP on the shelf, so I had to make a choice. While I've got decent stores of both, .22LR isn't reloadable, so that got the nod - besides, if I'm taking new shooters, I'm much more likely to bring rimfire than G-d's Own Pistol Caliber.

Besides, there's a shoot in June I need to stock up for...

That is all.

Jay,

I've never shot Winchester in my Marlin 60. You ARE bringing a box next Sunday. I figure to need two or three hundred rounds to decide whether or not it runs reliably in Miss Abigail.

Score!

For people who aren't so favored by Fate, it's worth giving Gunbot a look. It scans online ammo vendors' web sites in near real time and lets you know what's in stock and how much it costs. You can set price-per-round thresholds and it'll beep at you if something within you budget becomes available. I scored some .22lr and some 10-round AR mags with it.

I've seen .45 in stock at Walmart before, and I just recently picked up a few boxes of 7.62x39 at Cabela's, but I haven't seen bulk .22LR since December.

You know, we sound like birdwatchers chatting about when they last saw some rare endangered species in the wild.

Appleseed? Good for you!

Never had luck with the Winchester bulk in auto-loaders.....
