BAG Day Roundup

Yesterday was Buy A Gun Day. I asked folks to send in their acquisitions, and boy did you respond! Here's everything that came in:

Les gets himself a fine rifle:

What looks like an ordinary 8mm Mauser is really a 1961 Chilean Conversion to God's Own Caliber (New Testament) 7.62 NATO/ .308 Winchester.  American Ammo in a Mauser Design that's  (at least for me) readily available (if pricey). Gotta love it!
I've got a Turkish mauser I picked up years ago; someday I'd like to get a K98 for a "proper" version...

Hunter got himself a new gun for under three digits:

Two days early,  but here is my new XD-40. Another $60 gun (price of three raffle tickets). Won through our annual Friends of the NRA banquet/auction.
Sweet deal, Hunter!

bluesun  got some accessories:

While I also ordered CAV-15 lower and a new Pelican case in the same time frame, what I technically spent my tax return on was Boulder Airlift magazines from Magpul.  As many magazines in whatever calibers they'd let me buy (the picture is just one box of my shipments).

Seems appropriate to turn my tax return into a big "F*ck you very much, Denver Democrats."
Nice. Keep in mind those would be a felony here. Keep 'em in good shape; you won't be able to get more...

Dave H. scored a SWEET new roscoe:

Here's mine, a Ruger New Blackhawk in .45 Colt. It's my first revolver. I bought it from someone you know: Dennis at Dragon Leatherworks. I was browsing around his web site and looked into the guns he has for sale now that he's an FFL, and saw the Ruger. Right on the page it says no sales to New York but I emailed him to point out that a six-shooter still meets even New York's restrictions. Dennis, being willing to listen to reason (unlike some politicians I know), agreed to sell it to me. A week for the transfer and another week to get my pistol permit amended, and I picked it up last Friday. Then I hurt my foot and couldn't go shoot it all weekend. (sigh)
Very nice. Every time I see a SA revolver I get a hankerin' for a Ruger New Vaquero in .357 Magnum with a 4" barrel...

Bob sends in a nice one:
Smith & Wesson 64-2 2" .38 Special.  Bought used a month ago with tax refund, so I think it qualifies.  Police turn-in from a city starting with the letter "P."
There's just something horrifically ironic about buying a former police sidearm...

JFT got the start of his G for BAG day:

Here's my purchase for today.  Aero Precision stripped lower.  Never heard of them, but the smith said he'd have no problem building with it, so home it came.  Cheaper than a full gun, and who knows when it'll be done, but at least my light defensive carbine has a start.
While you all know I prefer the fine lowers from York Arms, any AR is better than none...

Linoge already posted his BAG purchases. Yes, plural. Lucky SOB got some NICE guns...

TrueBlueSam sends in a pair of new guns:

These were bought a few months back, and the wife is now shooting with me.  Since Buy A Gun Day began, I have been diligent in buying at least one new gun per year, although my purchases seldom fall on April 15.
Man, but those are nice. I'm really torn with my 22/45 Lite - on the one hand, I really like the simplicity of the Mark III 22/45 platform; on the other hand, it would really be sweet with a nice red dot sight...

Thanks for sending in your pictures, folks!

That is all.

Does buy a new safe work? That's what I did this week.

How about buy a new 80% lower? Not sure of the legality but I am sure of the necessity.

No, Thank YOU for Posting my Rifle!

Now if I can just sneek it through New York State's Berlin Wall to get to the next N.E Blogshoot.....

I see, my picture wasn't good enough ;).

Those were my first Browning-designed purchases... Might as well go in bulk :).

Les, you're good to go in NY with that rifle. Internal magazine = not an assault rifle. Just stay away from Albany or NYC.

Buy A Gun Day turned into "Spend $2000 on your dog at the vet Day" this year, so nothing fun...
