Big Jump In Arrests At This Year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
BOSTON (CBS) – Arrests were up significantly at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston this year.
Boston police took 32 people into custody Sunday, compared with just six in 2012.Now, my first thought was where it was a Sunday, more folks had it off, but last year St. Patrick's Day was on Saturday. Why is there a more than five-fold increase in arrests from last year to this year? A closer read of the story reveals this:
More than 300 people were issued citations for public drinking. And we find that 244 were cited in 2012, and 148 in 2011... Why, it's almost like they discovered that there was gold in handing out citations for drinking! And, surprise of surprises... When the police go out and actively seek out people to ticket for public drinking, they find more crimes being committed...
Maybe they ought to start ticketing gang bangers for illegal gun use?
That is all.
