MArooned VIDEO Product Review: TerraLUX TT-1 and TT-5 Flashlights

Before SHOT Show last month, I received a TerraLUX TT-5 flashlight for review. I chatted with the folks at TerraLUX at SHOT (there's a video I'm waiting to post there) and shortly thereafter a TT-1 showed up as a companion to the TT-5.

After having both flashlights for a while, I decided it was time to post a quick review. Seeing as how these are pretty flippin' awesome flashlights, though, I decided that mere photographs weren't going to cut it. No, I thought; these flashlights kick so much @$$ that they needed a video review. So I grabbed my Handycam, put the camera on a tripod, and retreated to a (somewhat) dark corner to bring you this:

I had another video where I compared both TerraLUX flashlights against other LEDs I have, but, honestly, the video sucked. I stood behind the camera and it was pointed at a door the whole time, and while you could see the difference in illumination, quite frankly it was as boring as watching paint dry. My respect for YouTubers grows every time I make a video.

I'll see if I can't get it right the next time I drag out the video camera and post a followup video shortly. I'll get some pictures, as well: both of these lights throw an amazing amount of light (note to self: Get a picture of the backyard at night). I've been carrying the TT-1 around, and for the size it's like stuffing a miniature sun in your pants. Wait. That probably sounds a lot worse than I meant...

I'll have a more in-depth review with the expanded video, but I wanted to get up the basic starter review now. I'm impressed with the clean, bright light put out by both TerraLUX flashlights, as well as the simple operation and rugged build. The TT-1 is a great size for EDC, and the TT-5 is really great on the nightstand or clamped on your favorite home defense firearm (and bright enough to roast the goblin if they're at bad-breath distance). Oh, and on a side note, I was mistaken about the strobe feature - if you push the strobe button and hold it for 2 seconds it will stay on.

More in-depth review to follow, but I am quite impressed with the offerings from TerraLUX thus far.

That is all.

Got a problem somewhere, Jay: I'm not seeing any picture on the video. I'm only getting the audio. I tried in both Firefox and MSIE 9. Same thing.

Weird. It's working fine on my iPhone...

And on my iPhone too. Hmmm.....

Did you have to manually specify the video dimensions when you embedded it? In the source, the video width is 4750 (pixels), which is way off the scale. The height is a more normal 275. Maybe that makes desktop browsers choke, but not the iPhone browser?

Oops. Yes, I re-sized it to fit better. Appears I may have goofed...

Try that...

Yep, that works. Got a picture there now.
