I Don't Have A Problem, I Can Quit Anytime...

Heh. Last night, as I divested of the EDC gear onto the nightstand, I took a long look at what I had just on the nightstand:

No, I don't have a problem with pocketknives or flashlights...

Much like my carry piece, I have my favorites for both. For the flashlights, I'm a huge fan of the Streamlight MicroStream. It works well for even business casual, fitting comfortably in the mag pocket of 5.11 Covert Tactical Khakis or clipped to a back pocket. The Kershaw Barrage is my go-to pocketknife, because it's very thin, opens one-handedly just as fast as an assisted opener, and I think I paid $15 for it. Either piece can be lent out, lost, or even discarded if need be and replaced with little pain in the wallet.

So what are your favorites for light and stabby?

That is all.

Mark Twain said he quit cigars 5 or 6 times a day. Yeah, you can quit. Sure. And I am Mary, Quuen of Scots.

Maglight Solitaire converted to LED, a Cold Steel Recon 1, and a Swiss Army knife.

Hey, you left room for your car keys. That's good...

I'm usually carrying a Fenix PD-32, and a Spike from Cold Steel. Of course, the keychain has another, smaller light and another, smaller knife...

Benchmade Emissary for stabby - 3 inch blade, slim, and doesn't freak people out in the office when I use it to break down empty k-cup boxes.

For shiny, I just use the cell phone app. Kinda lame but I just can't find a comfortable enough pocket flashlight.

Victorinox Swiss Army knife and a cell phone. The phone has an LED flash and I have an app that lets it be used as a flashlight.

Before LED lights were available I used to carry bitty single-cell Maglights but the bulbs or reflectors kept breaking. A few years ago my son bought me a multi-pack of LED lights with aluminum bodies. I think they're made by Dorcy. They've been surprisingly sturdy although they're a bit big for pocket carry.

I used to carry a Gerber liner-lock, but I could open it quickly enough that at work it generated raised eyebrows. Since I carry a multitool anyhow, I switched to a Leatherman Skeletool--has a pocket clip, and the blade deploys one handed but far less dramatically. I generally rely on a cellphone app that lights the 'flash' of my phone for light.

Kershaw Crown, a gift from Scribbler. Nice to see one on your dresser! I'm on my second - lost the first to the TSA because it never OCCURS to me that a gentleman would be without a pocketknife!
Oh, and a 190 lumen Cree that's like looking into the sun!

Flashlight is a Stone River LED. Work knife is a Boy Scout pattern made by Keen Kutter, carried in a belt pouch. Home knife is a Blind Horse Lil' MUK.

A few years ago Wamalart had Kershaw linerlocks on sale for $10 each and grabbed a bunch for stocking stuffers and kept one for myself. As for lights I keep a generic aluminum LED in every coat and jacket pocket and 2 or 3 in each vehicle in addition to the more expensive fry your retina type lights in my BUB

Camillus Heat 3 1/2" - Always (1)
Victorinox Mini-Champ - Always (2)
Streamlight ProTac 2AA - Always
CKRT Guppy - Often but not always.
Mora with custom leather frog - When I feel like it but never to work.

(1) NEVER used or even shown at work. They frown on things like that.
(2) It's cute and little and extremely useful and my boss sometimes wants to borrow it. Go figure...
