Another Dream Dashed...

Both the BLNN and Stretch inform me that the Batmobile is no longer available.

Original Batmobile from TV series auctioned for $4.2M
LOS ANGELES – "Holy windfall, Batman!" The Batmobile just sold for $4.2 million.

The original 19-foot-long black, bubble-topped car used in the 1960s "Batman" TV show sold at auction Saturday.

The Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. in Scottsdale, Ariz., revealed the selling price but says the winning bidder has not been disclosed.

Sadly, I am not the new owner of the campy 1960s TV-Batman Batmobile. This does not please me. I would gladly have made room in my garage for this:

Then again, the speeding tickets alone would have required a second job...

That is all.

Define "job"...?

You could just charge people for the privelege of riding shotgun and getting pulled over in the BATMOBILE!!

Well Jay, maybe it's time to forget the real batmobile and just go for a model instead. Maybe Heidi Klum?

Speeding Ticket?????? I don't think so......

Remember, underneath that bodywork is still a 1955 Lincon Concept car -- Drum Brakes -- soft suspension and a drivetrain that has probaly not exceeded 10mph in 45 years, and most likely still on 45 year old tires. It will be pushed on and off the transport truck and into a Museum where it continue to age.

I happen to have a very good friend who is a Master Mechanic for Ford.

He also happens to specialize in old cars.

The tires and rims would be replaced, but the motor would be gone through with a fine-tooth comb.

She would roar once more.

Don't be too bummed out. There's a company that makes a dead on copy of the batmobile. Google it- they look really nice- only $150,000 or so. A bargain.
