Spineless Crap Weasels

Discovery hit ‘American Guns’ canceled as Hollywood wrestles with links to gun violence
Discovery Channel’s popular reality show about a family of gun makers, “American Guns," came under intense scrutiny in the wake of Friday’s mass shooting at a Connecticut grade school, with people flooding the show’s Facebook page calling for its cancelation.
“I know you all have to make money but would Discovery Channel PLEASE consider ceasing to broadcast the show in the U.K.? Sadly your program makes buying/owning guns seem fun, glamorous, even normal,” wrote one.  Another tweeted, “Dear Discovery Channel: it’s not appropriate showing the program American Guns now!” Another weighed in: “With Discovery shows like 'Sons of Guns', 'American Guns', 'Ted Nugent's Gun Country' etc it's not surprising how guns r seen as acceptable.”
Funny, but I don't hear anyone calling for Budweiser to pull their advertising from TV programs after some drunk plows their car into a family coming home from church. Heck, for that matter, no one gets upset that Ford advertises in print media and on television even though their products kill more people every year than any gun manufacturer. Only tobacco is more vilified than firearms as a legitimate business, and we all saw how the government went after the tobacco companies...

It's sad - but entirely predictable - that some are unable to separate television programming designed to entertain with the evening news. It's even more ironic that the disapproving tweets are coming from (formerly) Great Britain, which has a straight ban on handguns and rigid controls on long arms - and yet has seen an increase in gun crime. They can't keep guns out of an island nation, yet want to dictate what American TV can or cannot show.

Remember this, though. Remember this when we start getting too smug and complacent. All the gains we've made in the past 20 years can be wiped away by one disturbed madman; the same television shows that we've been pointing to as evidence of guns being mainstream can disappear in one cowardly act. Never forget that we gunowners are the redheaded stepchildren; the first to be blamed for the nation's ills and the last to be taken seriously as a voting bloc.

Liberty - especially pertaining to gun rights - is a fragile and temporary creature; we forget that at our own peril.

That is all.

There's more to come. I also read this morning that NBC sports network has placed an indefinite moratorium on any firearms related outdoor shows.

Especially if the madman in question is (possibly)a drugged up patsy.

Can't make an omelette without breaking eggs. The dish is delicious, but it is hard on the eggs.

This is very hypocritical considering they're promoting Amish Mafia, and Moonshiners. Both shows promoting acutal illegal happenings.

Guns and the NRA aren't the problem; the Teachers' unions caused this tragedy.

All the intolerance spewing forth from the Left should be directed against the teachers' unions.

Single/divorced moms are responsible for far more criminals than any gun manufacturer.

A mom with a crazy dangerous kid is a real risk to her classroom. We need strict invasive laws to keep such women 1000 feet away from schools and play grounds.

The very fact that he murdered his mom suggests she might have been a bad parent; bad parents are bad teachers. Without saying 'she deserved it', I'm saying the reasonable presumption should have been to keep her far away from anybody else's kids.

If anyone wants to play the if/maybe/but/just one life game, then play it fairly.

Cutting all federal money to single moms will do more to cut crime than and gun restrictions.

Requiring that public school teachers be married (and firing them for getting divorced or separated) will do more to increase graduation rates and decrease crime than any anti-gun laws.

There is far more proof that single female teachers make kids into murderers, than there is proof that anti-gun laws prevent murder.
