In Lighter News...

It appears that this is my 7,000th post. 7K posts in a little under 6 years. Thousand posts a year, and given that I was nowhere near as prolific in my rookie year, that means a heck of a lot of posts. As I've joked, this blog is a form of therapy for me - rather than scream in impotent fury at the biased news displayed on TV, I can write in impotent fury here... Like Unc says, I do this for me, not you - and as the often-missed Acidman used to say, a ceaseless quest for adoration from people who don't know me...

Thanks again to everyone that sends in material: Les, Gerry, Joseph, Brad_in_MA, Jackie in TX, Stretch, ChiefJayBob, and countless others who I am forgetting at the moment (and I humbly apologize!). Thanks to everyone that submits DGC additions - I think it's a very worthwhile count to keep in mind, and appreciate folks thinking of me and the count whenever they see a suitable story. Thanks to everyone that reads and comments (that's a hint); I've learned a ton over the past few years, and I hope I've managed to help others along the way.

It's been a long and sometimes strange trip, but here's hoping for another 7,000 posts!

That is all.

Seems like you're wordier than you used to be. Going to give Kevin and me a run for the money.

;-)

Heh. Thanks folks.

Borepatch, that's posts, not word count per post like Kevin... ;)

A good number of posts are little more than a funny picture and me saying something like "Ha! Booger! That is all"...

Don't forget, you're supposed to rotate your keys every 7000 posts otherwise you'll void your warranty.

You seem to have hit a sweet spot for blogging. You've got a loyal following and your commenters are for the most part polite (as compared to the rest of Internet) even when they're disagreeing with you. When I blogged I had both extremes - one blog that almost nobody read and even fewer people commented on, and guest spots on another blog where every snot-nosed 1337 h4X0r with the social graces of a 12-year-old tried to prove he was the mostest rightest.

Thanks for all the words, Jay, and keep 'em coming!

7000 posts! Is that 1,000 post in dog blogging?

Well Done.

That's an impressive count, even including the "Ha! Booger!" posts.

I may get there in another 5 years, if I haven't crashed-and-burned long before then.

Congrats to you, Jay! Your blog was the first in the gunnie community I was introduced to, and I am happy to continue commenting and sending stuff your way... thanks for sharing your rants, pr0n, and knowledge.

Congrats, Jay! I started blogging mainly as teenager angst, laid of it for the most part, and then came back into for the same reasons as you. I know I don't comment often (it seems what I'd say has already been said most times by like minded folks) but I've generally enjoyed your blog since I started reading and you've given plenty of top notch advice.

Congrats on 7000! And you are not only prolific, but profound. I sure do know what you mean about the therapy end of blogging. I have actual family members calling me paranoid because I would like to continue to own the .22 semi auto I've used since I was 20.
