Mass. Sen.-elect Warren making year-end debt pitch
BOSTON —Massachusetts Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren is making an end-of-the-year pitch to help retire her campaign debt.
Warren's chief of staff, Mindy Myers, sent an email to the Democrat's supporters saying the campaign has set a goal of raising another $200,000 by midnight Dec. 31.Gee, Taxagawea, couldn't you just teach another class at Harvard to cover that tab? Honestly, I'm frightened that after spending some $42 million - with the complete help of the local and national media - that she eked out a win over a lightweight like Brown and still didn't have enough to pay her bills. Another report has the Warren campaign blaming the shortfall on coffee and pizza bought for campaign workers.
While I do have to admit to some sweet, sweet schadenfreude over Tin Lizzy's campaign being broke, it scares the living bejeezus out of me that this woman can't even run a political campaign without running out of money. Now she's going to be a Senator, where she can help the entire country run out of money. It's a tidy little metaphor for the Democratic party, really: You promise the people who work for you something, and don't care whether you can actually, you know, pay for it. We'll worry about that later.
No one ever stops to think what happens when "later" comes...
That is all.
