Ideally one made by the very talented Mark over at Rimfire Designs. Mark originally contacted me - way back when - about the Ruger 22/45 I received for T&E. I joked that I was looking for some nicer grips, and Mark dropped me an e-mail to say, yes, he could do that. A few weeks ago I finally managed to put the Ruger down long enough to take the rubber grips off and send them to Mark, and sent these back:
Damn, but those are just plain beautiful, aren't they?
Now, here's the kicker: Mark made those grips based solely on the rubber Ruger grips I sent down. He didn't have the gun in hand for test-fitting. He didn't have a lot of time, either - he turned around a fresh pair of grips on a firearm he didn't possess in less than two weeks. Folks, that's just plain amazing. That's on a par with Dennis over at Dragon Leatherworks pushing out that gorgeous Viper I took to Colorado.
Later on I'll be featuring some new grips that Mark will be bringing to market. All I'll say is that they're so gorgeous that I am seriously starting to think about having the gun they're currently on refinished so that they will not completely outshine the firearm... The man does impressive work, no question about that - and I'm just waiting for him to break into Smith & Wesson J- and K-frame grips... Ooh, and N-frame, too...
Awesome looking grips, fantastic quality, and great folks to boot - I'm a fan of Rimfire Designs!
That is all.
