Because It Was *SUCH* A Problem Before...

Oh, lovely...

Massachusetts Gun Laws May Get Tighter
BOSTON (CBS) – Across the country Monday, leaders like New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Senator Harry Reid called for new gun laws. But the White House admits it is a complex issue that will not be fixed with just one law. A Massachusetts lawmaker is promising to bring the debate to Beacon Hill as soon as he can.
Representative David Linsky of Natick says “peoples’ moods have changed on this issue. They are fed up and they will not take it anymore.”
Right. Because it's the availability of neutered semi-automatic rifles and reduced-capacity magazines in Massachusetts that contributed to the tragedy in Connecticut. Dear lord, is there no depth to which these ghouls will not sink? I can't imagine that even the most weak-minded might think that these laws would do a damned thing to stop these kinds of shootings; however, I can believe that these evil people were just itching for the right tragedy to push for more infringing on my rights.

Dear NRA: The time for silence has passed. We understand that the organization has been quiet in respect for the dead, but our enemies - and they are indeed enemies - have wasted no time in using this tragedy to further their goals. I'm certain that GOAL and Comm2A will be fighting this tooth and nail, but without the clout of the largest gun rights organization in America behind them, the outcome is shaky. We need powerhouses like Alan Gura fighting for us here.

Punishing the law abiding gun owners of Massachusetts will do exactly NOTHING to stop shootings like which happened in Newtown, CT. We are already living under the strictest gun control laws in the nation - we need a permit simply to own a firearm, we are required to store all firearms under lock and key, we cannot purchase certain handguns, we are not allowed so-called "assault weapons", etc. And yet they want to punish us further because someone in another state broke a whole bunch of that state's gun laws.

And if you think this is going to stop at the Massachusetts border, I've got a bridge to sell you...

That is all.

All that gun control worked in CT, didn't it. Works well in MA, IL, NJ, and all the other places where it can't get much more restrictive - like Chicago, Washington DC, etc, etc.

Why do we have to wait for the organizations to speak out when we are all already part of a pretty well networked community? We need to show ourselves not as the NRA or SAF but as neighbors, teachers, lawyers, babysitters, waitresses, etc. WE need to continue to speak-up. If we keep to our own silence we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Sorry for the rant. Friday was beyond horrible but I'm still tired of all of us being blamed for it...

How does the saying go? Every time there's a shooting spree, all they want to do is punish the people who didn't do it.

Why are they punishing the innocent?
Because they can.
You let them.
If not you, enough of your ignorant fellow citizens who persist in reelecting those who will violate your rights. Why?
Because they can.
