Jackson Jr. won’t resign until he gets disability pay: EXCLUSIVE
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Sources tell FOX 32 News that Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. is willing to give up his 2nd Congressional District seat if he's given disability when he steps down.
Jackson Jr. was re-elected to his tenth term but last month, sources say, he applied for a disability package--what could be his only income if he resigns. It is expected to take a couple of weeks for Congress to approve or deny the request.Wow. Just... Wow. I mean, this is some giant brass ones here. This guy has been in rehab since early June - any bets on whether he's still drawing a Congressional salary? I didn't think so - and is under investigation for misappropriation of campaign funds which he allegedly used to furnish his personal home and give his mistress a $40,000 Rolex. Oh, and his wife is not only a city alderman, she's also a consultant on his campaign and drawing a regular salary.
Apparently gaming the system and outright theft puts a strain on a body, as Jackson has been claiming to be treated for exhaustion for months now. He's been out of commission for nearly half the year, but is holding his seat hostage pending a disability retirement. That's some strong, strong Koolaid in Chicago - because Jackson knows he won't be voted out of office any time soon. I'd say the people of Chicago are getting exactly what they deserve - because they are - but his shenanigans are costing all of us money.
It might be worth the disability retirement just to get him out of politics entirely...
That is all.
