Fifth Annual Northeast Blogger Winter Dinner...

Well, getting this out a little earlier than last year (one day earlier, actually...)

We normally have our Winter Dinner on the first or second Saturday in January - that would be either the 5th or 12th. Alternately, the last Saturday of December (29th) might be a viable alternative, especially for folks that have taken the entire week of Christmas off. That option only gives a month for planning; first or second week in January gives a little more time.

Here's the standard format:

What? Northeast Blogger Winter Gathering.

Who? Any and all bloggers, commenters, readers, lurkers, etc. in the Northeast area, or those passing through, or anyone crazy enough to show up.

When? Typically sometime after Christmas, usually a Saturday evening for peak attendance; Suggested dates are Saturday, December 29th, January 5th, or 12th; any of these days work better/worse for folks? We have historically started the dinner portion around 6 or 7 and go until the last person leaves (and at that, we're usually out in the parking lot yammering away for another hour or so...)

Where? TBD. Usually we get together somewhere in the southern NH area, the past two years at KC's Rib Shack or Jillian's in Manchester. I'll toss out a suggestion of Polcari's in Salem NH if folks are interested in really good Italian cuisine, and there's a couple of pool halls on close by if folks are interested. Alternately there's Portsmouth Brewery that might be fun. The Mexican restaurant we hit before the 2011 summer blogmeet was pretty decent as well. Or maybe someplace I haven't thought of! We're looking for a place that's not terribly crowded and can handle a crowd of 20 - 30 people - thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

Why? Folks getting together to enjoy good food, great beer, and superlative company. Bring your appetite, a whistle for wetting, and your best stories to tell. Sometimes we embarrass ourselves playing pool afterwards...

So, who's in for a night of fun with crazy blogger-type people?

That is all.

While I LOVE Portsmouth Brewing, it really isnt all that big in general. They have one area that can handle a group up to 20 upstairs. I've never been to the downstairs bar, so I don't know how crazy that is on a Saturday night, or if it can handle a group of 30.
Can't comment on Pocans, dont think I've ever been. Of the other suggestions, I must say I think KC's has been the best by far at handling our large group. The put us upstairs away from most of the crowd, and in the middle of the room so 1/2 the people arent trapped in the back like at Jillians and it's easier to move around and socialize. No loud music making it hard to talk. Great food, reasonable prices. Only downside is they arent open as late as a club, and we usually end up closing the place.

I dont think the 29th will work for us- the 12th would be preferable.

I am in, pending location. Salem or Manchester isn't bad. Portsmouth might be a haul.

Heath & I would love to come this year. We're good with the 29th or 5th, can't manage the 12th though.

Well, I'm gonna be in Boston for a conference from the 3rd to the 6th. (For context, everybody, this is me, though vanity compels me to point out I've lost weight since then). I'm actually giving my presentation on the morning of the 5th, so I could probably manage it, but the 12th would definitely be easier.

Also, if anybody's interested in re-fighting Lexington and Concord in 9-ball form, I must admit I have been known to play pool. I'll even wear my red coat...

5th or 12th, I'll be home for those. No preferences as to where to go. I'm easy.

Ideally the 29th, but should be able to swing whichever night. No preferences on location.

I'm in. My schedule is, as they say, wide open for reasons which will be apparent by the end of the year.

I'd prefer Manchester or Nashua as they are a bit more "central" than Portsmouth. Which is almost in Maine.

BBQ sounds good, although I don't hate Italian at all.

I'm w/TOT- Manch/Nashua are bestest.

In, not Portsmouth.

Since I'll try to come down from Maine, Portsmouth would be best for me. I didn't make it home until 2AM when we met in Manchester in May.
