Don't Get Involved in a Trade War In Asia...

China launches WTO case challenging solar subsidies provided by some EU members
BEIJING – China has filed a World Trade Organization case challenging subsidies provided by some European Union members to promote the solar panel industry, adding to a flurry of trade disputes that Beijing is locked in with Europe and the United States.

Commerce Ministry spokesman Shen Danyang said in a statement Monday that China is requesting a consultation at the WTO on the issue.

You didn't think they were going to sit idly by while Chinese goods were embargoed and had taxes levied against them, did you? Obama is proud of his tariffs against Chinese solar panels; now the EU is subsidizing European panels to yield an unfair advantage. Do we really want the Chinese to decide they want a trade war?

I love the irony of appealing to the EU via the WTO. The very same WTO that causes riots in all of the European cities is going to help China in a trade dispute with EU nations. It's an awful lot like watching the neighborhood bully get in a tiff with the weird kid who sets fires. You're really not sure which one you want to come out on top, and you're sure as hell not going to cheer for one or the other...

In either case, you know whoever loses is going to be looking at you cross-eyed...

That is all.

What I find interesting is that the Anointed One had Billions pumped into his Cronies Solar Panel Companies that had no chance of succeeding because the ChiComs were dumping their wares like Crap through a Goose.

And yet, he did it anyway, w/o even making an effort to stop the ChiComs. In fact, isn't that the excuse Barry used ("It's All the Chinese Fault!") only AFTER the Republicans said WTF!?

So I wonder how many Euro Solyandras have gone belly up with their Gooberment Subsidies flushed down the Drain just like the U.S.?

Why am I "Shocked! Just Shocked to discover that there is Gambling on the Premises!"

What exactly makes you think that the Chinese haven't already started a trade war and no one else is willing to admit it?

The chinese subsidize everything via currency manipulation. And their government owns most of the industries.

Agree with Oddball, however, IMHO, China started the trade war a while back. Their "outside voice" is just now becoming heard about it.

This is when you sit down in the lawn chair to watch the fireworks, (with a shotgun across the lap of course...) Like you said, your not sure who's going to win but you better be willing and able to defend yourself against one or both
