Um... *Pucker*

Loose Seats Found On More American Airlines Planes After Inspections
BOSTON (AP/CBS) – An American Airlines official tells CBS News that loose seats have been found on at least six aircraft. The official says that 37 Boeing 757s have been inspected so far, and there are 11 more to go.

The six aircraft were found to have one row of seats not properly installed. This includes two flights that had to be diverted in recent days.
[chants to himself] American, not Southwest. American, not Southwest.

Yeah, I really don't need to read stories like these two days before I'm supposed to get on a plane...

It's interesting, really. I wasn't joking when I said I'd only flown once between 2001 and 2011 - down to Disney with the family. This year, though, saw SHOT Show in Vegas, NRA Convention in St. Louis, and family vacation in WI - and come tomorrow I'm Colorado-bound. I'm slightly more comfortable on an airplane now than I was a year ago, but that really means that I don't need five minutes to remove my hands from the armrest at the end of the flight now...

It's funny. I ride a motorcycle, and just by sheer numbers alone I'm several orders of magnitude more likely to die on the Harley than in an Airbus. But then again, I'm in control of the Harley, whereas on a plane I'm little more than ballast. If something goes wrong on the plane, well, there's nothing I can do - except maybe shriek in terror... And, I suppose, I can wear protective gear on the bike that will mitigate some accidents - but I don't think I'd get a parachute past TSA...

I think I'm getting over this fear of flying despite the news...

That is all.

Absolutely it's that whole control thing. I cannot passenge on a bike, yet I love to ride. OTOH, I love to fly provided we have quite a bit of distance between us and the ground. Takeoff, climb to altitude, cruise I'm fine. But once we get below about 1000' on approach it gets hard to breath. But as soon as I feel the nose gear touch down I'm fine again.

[Shrugs]

The only reason I won't fly now is TSA.

Remember "once is accident, twice is coincidence but three times is enemy action"?

There's a story this is "enemy action". American and the unions are involved in a tight negotiation over new maintenance contracts.

Jay, you're more likely to die in the Earthf**ker than in a 737.

Have fun driving to the airport.

Airbus?
*sigh*

Sound like the possibility of union hooligans loosening seat bolts to me. You are traveling on another airline anyway.

Parachutes are fine as carry ons. They will take your whiskey, though. Don't start putting the rig on in flight. You're welcome.
