Friday Gun Pr0n #289

I just can't help myself. I really can't. A few weeks ago I received a SUB2000 carbine from the good folks at Kel-Tec for testing & evaluation. Looking over the accessories, I noticed that they did in fact have a railed forend available. Once one was in stock, they were kind enough to ship me a kit for addition to the rifle. I'll have a full write-up later, but for now, I put the rails to good use:

See, it's the little personal touches that just make it yours, you know? The zombie pistol bayonet from LaserLyte just pops against the black, don't you think? The BSA red dot is a stopgap for now (maybe I can convince the good folks at EOTech to get in on this?); eventually I'd like to have a holographic sight on the SUB2000. I've had it out a few times at the pistol range; it's shown superb accuracy at close range with the factory sights. With a little work, this could be a fantastic little house carbine.

Hmmm. Needs a light, don't you think?

That is all.

Blade would have to project past the end of the barrel for it to be effective as a bayonet. Points for effort, however.

Bayonets are SO 21 seconds ago. The new hot tactical accessory for your rails is a cat.

Gotta have the Laser, so the Attack Cats can chase the red dot while you're House Clearing.

Works for Unc. ; )

Will the holo sight be in place of the red dot? Or in addition to?

With the red dot equipped the gun can't fold down, correct?

I eagerly await your review, Jay!

(Okay, I'll admit it: I'm impatient. I've already placed an order for one.)

Bob,

The bayonet is just to show it's mine. A light is a far more functional addition, and will most likely be added at some point.

Kevin,

Heh. No tacticats in the G. household...

Les,

I had originally put on the Colt CGL Laser grip, but it interfered with the bayonet.

I have my priorities, man!

Erin,

The red dot is simply a stopgap for now. I have a TruGlo sight that I'll get on it at some point, but I certainly wouldn't rule out a reflex sight down the road...

Anon,

Yes, you are correct. If you install a sight, you can't fold it completely unless you take the sight off. It will, however, still fold with a foregrip...

Daniel,

So far I'm pretty impressed with it. At 25 feet, it's one ragged hole in the very center of the target; at 50 feet it widens out so that you can see each hole but not by much...

Jay, I am looking forward to your review and full details. Wife v2.0 really wants a S&W 5906 for her next handgun. (crushed wrist makes slide retraction on most other guns hard for her) I have been thinking about the Sub2000 model that shares mags for her house carbine/ hurricane bug out gun.

Looks nice. I wouldn't be giving that piece back, especially given how hard they are to come by!
