What's Missing Here?

Take a read of this article:

Mayor of NJ's capital arrested in corruption probe
TRENTON, N.J. — Federal agents arrested the mayor of New Jersey's capital city early Monday as part of an ongoing corruption investigation into bribery allegations related to a parking garage project that was concocted as part of an FBI sting operation.
Trenton Mayor Tony Mack, his brother, Ralphiel, and convicted sex offender Joseph Giorgianni, a Mack supporter who owns a Trenton sandwich shop, were accused of conspiring to obstruct, delay and affect interstate commerce by extortion under color of official right.
Tell me what's missing. Now, your first thought might be "the political affiliation of the mayor", but it does mention that he is a Democrat. At the bottom of the page. In a roundabout manner. No, what's missing is that Mack is a member of Mayors Against Illegal guns - now, you'd never know that, seeing as how they scrubbed his name off the list of NJ mayors, but he was a member as of 2010:
FIRST 100 DAYS of ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS
 Mayor Mack joined Mayors Against Illegal Guns, an organization dedicated to making America's cities safer by cracking down on illegal guns. The Mayor’s Office will begin a state-wide campaign to recruit all New Jersey Mayors to join the coalition.
You know, it's funny. A Google search for "Tony Mack MAIG" brings up the MAIG page even though he doesn't appear on the page either. It's like MAIG is trying to hide the fact that yet another Mayor on their list is doing a perp walk. You know, I don't the numbers to back this up at hand, but I'll wager that the percentage of conceal carry permit holders that commit crimes is lower than the number of MAIG affiliates who do...
Stay classy, New Jersey...

That is all.

Some firearms accessory companies hurt the cause too with intentionally misleading ads. My favorite one is in the new CDNN catalog on page 50 where they are selling 10 round magazines in .40 for Glocks as standard capacity magazines. The standard capacity magazine for a Glock is 13 rounds per the manufacturer. This misleading ad causes desensitization towards the actual definition of a standard capacity magazine which is whatever the manufacturer decides is standard for that model.

Percentage? Hell, given that every time a concealed-carry holder commits a crime anywhere in America it's front-page news across the country for days, I'd say that the _raw count_ of CC-holders committing crimes is less than the number of MAIGs doing so.

MAIG seems to have missed a couple of pages:

"Mayors Against Illegal Guns". Sounds nice... as long as they go after actual criminals. (Why do I suspect that they're after law-abiding gun owners too?)

Maybe one day, these well-meaning folks will figure out a way to disarm criminals WITHOUT disarming the rest of us. I won't hold my breath.

I saw the title of this post and thought "Let's hope it's not the kilt."
