Now, a few things to clear up. First off, I need anyone that donated before the Prize Packages were announced to send me an e-mail and let me know which package or packages you'd like your tickets to go towards. Secondly, a quick note on how this is going to work. Imagine that all six prizes have buckets in front of them. You donate $30 to PFC through MArooned and get three (3) "tickets" - those can be put in the bucket of any prize or prizes you wish. Donate $60 and you could put one ticket in each bucket, or six tickets in one bucket, etc. And lastly, if you've donated already and told me where to put the tickets and you'd like to change this based on the new addition, shoot me an e-mail.
Now, let me recap the Prize Packages. I'll add a note where there are updates to that specific package.
Prize Package One - Bowie Knife
Custom bowie knife courtesy of Michael W.:
It's a handmade coffin-handled, damascus-steel blade bowie knife. I should have included a ruler for scale, but the blade is 8" long (and sharp) and it has an overall length just shy of 14". The picture does not do it justice - this knife is stunning. If "Dr. Mike" hadn't made me one of my own for my 40th birthday this one would be extremely hard to give up - as it is it's still pretty darn hard to see it go...
Prize Package Two - Jayne Hat
#1 blogdaughter Nancy has graciously offered to make the winner of this package one of these:
Your very own Jayne hat, made famous by Adam Baldwin as Jayne Cobb on "Firefly". I will put the winner in contact with Nancy so that she can get your head size and begin construction of your very own cunning hat.
Prize Package Three - Monster Hunter Sporran - UPDATED
This one comes to us from Dragon Leatherworks. When Dennis heard that I would again be participating in the Kilted to Kick Cancer fundraiser, he had a fantastic idea - he would build a custom sporran for me to use and then raffle off at the end. This sounded like a great idea, right up until he sent me pictures of it:
That's the full-on view, and yes, that is the Monster Hunter logo. Here's the top:
When I saw the pictures and realized just how beautiful this turned out (not that there was ever any doubt, it's just that hearing about it and actually seeing it are two different things), my heart sank - because I'll have to give it away. I don't want to, but a deal's a deal - and boy, whoever wins this is getting a one-of-a-kind unique item.
UPDATE: The sporran has now been signed by Larry Correia:
Please note that this is set up inside with a holster for a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380...
Prize Package Four - York Arms AR-15 Lower
York Arms has graciously donated a stripped AR-15 lower to the (legally eligible, of course) winner of Prize Package Four:
Note: This lower is not the prize, but a sample of what York Arms can do. Wally will do custom serial numbers, caliber markings, and Safe/Fire selector markings as well as magwell engraving as part of this prize package. This would be a tough one to pass along as well if I didn't already have two York Arms lowers... Please note that this is a firearm and will have to be transferred to an FFL.
Update (kinda): Wally has also offered to work with the winner of this package to turn this into a complete firearm. Obviously, it'll cost parts and labor, but if you were letting lack of technical know-how keep you from choosing this prize, wait no longer!
Prize Package Five - Signed Monster Hunter Series - SERIOUS BUTT-KICKING UPDATE
As you may or may not know, but the creative genius behind Monster Hunter, Larry Correia, was in my neck of the woods last week signing copies of his latest novel, Monster Hunter Legion which was released last week (BUY IT! BUY IT NOW). Barnes & Noble only had Legion in stock, but I'm going to work with Larry to get all four novels signed. There is also now a 3' X 5' promotional poster - also signed by Larry - to go with this package.
That is not the big addition to this package, though. The big addition is this:
The winner of Prize Package Five will be written into a Monster Hunter novel, possibly "Monster Hunter: Nemesis" which is the next Monster Hunter novel slated for release.
Winner to provide information to Larry Correia who will write them in to the novel - most likely as a Monster Control Bureau agent brutally killed by Agent Franks - and be immortalized in print for the ages. Just think - for a $10 donation you get a chance to live forever in the works of Larry Correia...
ADDITION: Prize Package Six - Custom 1911 Grips
Before the Kilted To Kick Cancer contest started, Mark from Rimfire Designs contacted me about sending me a pair of 1911 grips for me to review. He started Rimfire Designs earlier this year, and wanted to send me a set to get my opinion. After the KTKC fundraiser started, he contacted me again and told me he'd like to contribute a set of handmade wood grips for a 1911 to the Prize Packages.
He sent two sets of grips:
The winner gets their choice of wood; I'll review the other set. Pretty sweet, eh?
So, there you have it.
And remember, you can't win if you don't enter, and you can't enter if you don't donate:
Prostate Cancer Foundation
And if you've already donated, thank you - and you can increase your chances of winning by donating again!
That is all.
