How I Spent My Afternoon...

Doubletrouble was kind enough to offer me some time with his chronograph for some ammo testing.

Naturally, this happened:

Those of you that know about chronographs know that this is supposed to be straight...

Fortunately, Doubletrouble has both a vice vise and an anvil...

That is all.

I'm sure he does have a vice or two; I don't know anyone who doesn't. What I'm not sure of is what kind of vice would be of any use in repairing his chronograph. Perhaps I need to broaden my view of human vices....

On the bright side, you have just disproved the whole "JayG shoots minute of berm" thing, since you have proven that you can shoot "minute of chrono" (pun* intended, of course).

*If you're unsure of why this is a pun, it'll come to you in time. ;-)

It could be worse.

You could be photographing a different part of the chron.

I did this exact thing to a friend's chrony. The plastic arches were destroyed.

I have a rule and an observation about chronographs. The rule is: the guy who owns the chronograph shoots through the chronograph. The observation is: if you own a chronograph, sooner or later, you will shoot it.

Going back to my comment on your Kel-Tec S2K post, what combination of firearms and cartridges were you checking on Doubletrouble's chronograph?

I took my new chronograph out to get speed readings on the new NM ammo I'll be shooting at the 2013 Boomershoot through my suppressed M-14.

The M-14 was trapped into a sled for the readings.

FOR (safe) SCIENCE!
