Where's That Shocked Face?

So, after watching the practice, I took TheBoy to Lambeau Field itself. What was waiting for us but this:

I commented that it was nice of the Green Bay Packers to assume responsibility for my safety. I explained to TheBoy that only good people paid attention to the signs - even he realized that a bad guy wasn't going to be stopped by a sign on the door.

So why does an 11 year old get it but theoretically educated people don't?

That is all.

Does that sign carry force of law in WI?

I ignore any sign I see here in DE, though they're quite rare.

As the saying goes, I have been kicked out of better places for less than this.

Ya done good with The Boy.

TheBoy gets it, because even in the graveyard of liberty, someone has taken the time and love to raise him right. And that is the real reason America wins.

That sign, if your heater is discovered, allows the property owner/tenant to ask you politely to leave the premises. If you do not comply, they can then summon the local constabulary, who will escort you off the premises and issue you a misdemeanor citation for simple trespass. If that sign is hanging on a "public" building, you face a felony charge. So remember, concealed is CONCEALED.

Oh, one other thing...in WI, in order for that sign to carry even the fart in the wind power it does, it or a similar one needs to be posted on EVERY entry into the building in question, even the employee entrances...just so you know.

The Boy gets it because he doesn't have an agenda he's pitching and goals he's masking.

That's because you didn't raise him to be a devious bastard; like a politician.

Knives? Shoelaces? Car keys? WhateverTheHeckWeFeelLikeDefiningAsAWeaponAfterTheFact (tm)?

To my mind, that ought to be deemed unenforceable.

One other thought -- suppose, Jay, you had gone into the stadium pulling a small Civil War era cannon... with TheBoy riding on it? They prohibit carrying firearms, but they don't seem to mind if the firearm carries you.

Bottom line: some problems can be fixed with laws and rules, others can't. We need to recognize this, and apply the law where it works, not as a cure-all. Gun-control laws, for the purpose of controlling criminals, are equivalent to hammering nails with a tape measure.

Maybe I just missed where you wrote that you and TheBoy turned around and went for cheese curds instead?

Sure it's good to know he understands the stupidity and cupidity of the sign. But even more important would be seeing his father standing up for principles even at the expense of not doing something the two of you really wanted to do. "Yeah, it's that important."

stay safe.
