Fifth Annual Northeast Bloggershoot AAR (the rest)...

Wow, where to begin? Well, first off, a huge THANK YOU to Doubletrouble and Mrs. Doubletrouble for once again opening up their home to our ragtag band of misfits. I cannot stress how much nicer it is to have the shoot at the sooper seekrit location rather than at a gun club - even the most permissive of gun clubs won't allow half the stuff we brought/shot/shot at yesterday. Plus, they're just great people, part of my tribe, and any chance I get to spend with my people is a great time...

Secondly, another big THANK YOU to Wally of York Arms. He once again came down from Weerd's home state to share a bunch of wonderful Class III toys with us, including one I don't think he's ready to divulge (but will get a prominent mention once he's ready). He brought full auto .223 (which I couldn't get running), 9mm (also couldn't get running), and 300BLK (I didn't even try) - that's what happens when you're forced to use 20 year old magazines. Coincidence? I think not... It's always great to see the Maestro of Metal and Mayhem, especially when we get to play with his wonderful toys.

And speaking of Maestro of Metal, I have to give a shout to someone that wasn't even present. Speer, the maker of my handgonne, gets an extra-special shout out for providing the most fun possible without a giggle switch. I'll have a full review up tomorrow (with video!) but the gist of it is that the little handcannon was just crazy stupid fun - and, as more than a couple people pointed out, indicative of the complete and utter futility of gun control. Thanks Speer!

It still blows me away that folks come from as far as they do to play with us at the Northeast Bloggershoot. THOT, pediem, and Bubblehead Les drove all the way out from freakin' Ohio. Glenn and Zercool came in from New York. Wally came down from Maine. Cher and Mopar came up from CT. I'd say that Lissa came all the way up from FLA to play with us, but she really just happened to be in the area. Thanks for stopping by Lissa! I'm always gratified to hear that folks had a good time, and I guess they're not just humoring me if they're driving hundreds of miles to get here...

In all the craziness of the day - it started with me discovering that, some 20 minutes after the babysitter was supposed to show up, I had no childcare (harumph), and my wonderful sister-in-law stepped up to help me out - I didn't get a chance to record everyone who was present. All of the above were there, plus JD and his wife, Brad_in_MA and his friend Alan (who has some flippin' sweet guns I must say!), SCI-FI, Mrs. SCI-FI, and my goddaughter were there, as was Old Windways and Andrew. Marko came down from Castle Frostbite to grace us with Major Caudill's presence, and we even allowed a politician in - The Senator himself stopped by for a few rounds... I know I'm forgetting folks, and I apologize heartily for the oversight.

ETA: Glenn's son Brandon was there, as was Andie and libertyman (how did I forget him; he brought the S&W 500 Magnum!!!). Yankeefried and Mrs. Yankeefried were also present. Again, if I forgot to include you, my sincerest apologies...

In all, we had well over two dozen shooters, including a new shooter and a few children. Not so much as a single scratch was suffered by anyone despite the presence of machine guns, sniper rifles, and even THOT's Saturday Night Special. Why, it's almost like the tool is immaterial! Everyone had a great time; we managed to put a lot of holes in stuff that needed ventilating - and none in anything that shouldn't have holes in it - and everybody went home intact. Well, except for my shoulder after lugging all those guns and ammo cans around...

Looking forward to the Sixth Annual Northeast Bloggershoot already!

That is all.

Geez Jay, I wish I had known. I had magazines for everything available. They seemed to run fine for everyone else. Guess you'll have to give them another try.

It's me being stubborn more than anything. Thanks for the offer; I'll bring some BOXED ammo to compensate next time!
