Additions of Incredible Stupidity...

A reader sends in this head-scratchingly stupid addition:

North Augusta gun shop owner kills suspected burglar, injures two others
NORTH AUGUSTA — One man is dead and two are recovering after being shot by a gun store owner during a burglary of his business Thursday morning.

Stephen Bayazes Jr., 57, told officers that he and his wife were asleep in an apartment at the back of the business, Guns & Ammo Gunsmith, 522 Edgefield Road, shortly before 4 a.m. when he awoke after hearing a loud crash and the activation of a silent alarm.
Let's count the levels of fail here. First off, robbing a gun store? In South Carolina? And not casing the place and discovering that the owner lives on premises???

But wait, it gets better:
Bayazes grabbed an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and found three men loading guns into a van that had crashed through the side wall of the store.

After hearing the men yell to kill him, Bayazes shot one 30-round magazine of .223-caliber bullets before retreating to his bedroom to reload, he later told officers.
The owner comes out with a rifle, at which point the men yell about killing him. Are you kidding me? Are these the dumbest freakin' crooks in the known universe? He killed one, and hit the rest, which puts his ratio a heck of a lot better than the police.

Let me put it to you this way: I hear someone breaking into my house say "Kill him", it's going to sound just like "RANGE IS HOT"...

Dead Goblin Count: 318

That is all.

You may not believe this, but I think that might be the same Gang that hit 3 Gun Stores up here on the North Coast in the last couple of years. Similar M.O. In fact, during one of the Break Ins one of them used a Concrete Saw and cut through a wall to get in. Hope it's the Same Bad Guys.

But why would ANYONE need a 30-round magazine?

Good on him.

And according to the gun control advocates, the three criminals are 'victims of gun violence' and the owner of the store should be at fault for not securing his inventory better and had a 'duty to retreat'.

Even better than that, since the deceased was under 24 (26?), the Bradys count him as a "child killed by gunfire"...

Even better if one of the comments is to be believed: a second goblin died in the hospital. Mind you I can't seem to find a reference to this in online news.

Personally I'll hear, "You may fire at Will, by the way, my name's will, nice to meet you."

Bet that store owner was happy to have a standard capacity magazine too.

Time for the store owner to stock magazine clamps, and to use them. There would be at least two magazines on that rifle, with no need to retreat back to the apartment to reload.

A three pouch bandolier holding two magazines per pouch could be stored beside the rifle, ready to throw over the shoulder as he responded.

Eight magazines of thirty rounds at the ready, or 240 rounds? Perhaps another bandolier back at the doorway to the apartment, just in case.

Remember, when you fire at the range, you are not dealing with night time darkness and a massive adrenalin dump along with multiple targets firing back at you. So much to do and so little time....
